The mother of a pregnant librarian who was shot and killed in a shootout with bikers following a road rage incident in Florida told Inside Edition she’s heartbroken that no one has been charged in her daughter’s death. The incident on that late November day that led to the expectant mother’s death began when police said Sara Morales intentionally bumped into a biker with her car. She then called 911, telling the operator that three men on motorcycles were chasing her.

The only person who would've known whether the woman "intentionally" bumped into the biker was the woman herself. She doesn't get to tell her side of the story now.
The biker called police to say the woman swerved and hit him. At the same time, the woman called police to say these men were chasing her.
The woman was on the phone with police when she and her mother walked outside with guns and told the men to go away. How is what these women did not "stand your ground"? They were on their own property. Neither woman shot at anyone.
The biker shot the woman dead. She was five months pregnant. He has not been arrested.
Well, it seems she brought a gun to a gun fight and lost. How is it not murder when the road rager followed her home and shot her at home?
When she pointed her weapon at the biker, he drew his legally carried weapon and shot her. Justifiable, defensive and appropriate.
Oh yeah. That's a good reason to shoot someone.
</sarcasm>
And then...there's the rest of the story.
Sounds like the woman had an anger management problem. All she had to do was wait in the house.
I remember this story. Was posted on FR, right when it happened.
Allegedly she hit the biker with her car, then left the scene of the accident, went home. They followed her but stood off away from the house while they called police. She came out of the house with a gun and pointed it at them.............
Where is this video of her with the gun outside her house? The video I shared above is new - just out yesterday.
There is no evidence she tried to kill him on the road.
Whole lotta stupid down in Florida.
I AM NOT TAKING EITHER SIDE- I am just pointing out a counterpoint to your post
If someone hits your car (or bike) and does not stop I see no problem with following them.
Reporting the hit and run FIRST would have been a good idea, and established a timeline.
But when she pulled a gun AND POINTED IT AT THEM what were they supposed to do? She had already proved she was dangerous when she intentionally hit them.
If that is true do you think she was faultless?
And alternate headline could have been “Biker shoots woman who hit them with her car, then pointed weapon”
There is probably much more to this story.
With that additional detail it sounds like there is a reason the biker isn’t in jail charged with murder.
I lived right down the street where a similar incident took place. Some kind of car accident, a guy followed the other guy home where he lived on my street, the homeowner sees the other guy has a gun [concealed carry license], goes and gets his gun inside the house and starts firing. Both missed each other, multiple shots.
The guy with the concealed carry license probably lost his license, I would imagine.
This was in the days before everyone had cell phones, so the concealed carry stalker couldn’t just dial 911 and get the police on the line.
I gather the question in both incidents is: When are you standing your ground, defending your home? After someone else is definitely shooting at you, the points become kinda moot. Shot placement becomes the key ingredient at that juncture.
Well apparently there is because the police and prosecutors have watched all the video available and they say she was the aggressor and the guy that shot her did so in self defense. Stop talking crazy and review all the evidence available before making yourself look like a moron.
Whatever gets you through. You're free to live in your own reality. Have a good time. BTW, search still works.
Whether she tried to hit him or not, they should not have followed her to her house.
Get her license number and let the cops handle it.
3 strange, aggressive, threatening men followed her to her home.
I'll bet she was scared.
“she brought a gun to a gun fight and lost. How is it not murder when the road rager followed her home and shot her at home?”
You are entitled to your emotions, but not your facts.
This was in the news a few weeks ago and there was film that the pregnant woman clearly was the aggressor. Thus no charges.
She got home in one piece, went inside and at that point was safe unless they broke into her house, which they did not attempt to do.
Sheriff deputy on the way.
But she went outside again, armed, and pointed a gun at the biker.
Guilty in most states because as long as she was in the house, her life was not in danger.
The castle law does not change the fact that your life or that of another must be in danger. You are not allowed to shoot a person just because he is in your front yard.
And if a dangerous situation has or is deescalating and you take an action that causes it to become violent, you are guilty of causing the violence.
Like it or not, that is the way the law is enforced by the courts.
If someone hits your car (or bike) and does not stop I see no problem with following them.
***Based on the detail provided, the biker followed, called 911 and stayed at a distance. Sounds like he did very allowable things, assuming those details and assertions are correct.
Reporting the hit and run FIRST would have been a good idea, and established a timeline.
***It’s starting to sound like that’s what the biker did do.
But when she pulled a gun AND POINTED IT AT THEM what were they supposed to do?
***Defend themselves. Which they did.
She had already proved she was dangerous when she intentionally hit them.
***I have a problem with this assertion that it was intentional. I don’t have a problem with the assertion that she left the scene intentionally because that would be intimidating to take up words with a bunch of bikers.
If that is true do you think she was faultless?
***You shoulda left out that “intentional” aspect in your asserted hypothetical. Once I excise that element, I don’t find much fault in the motorcyclist. So when I reprocess your hypothetical with the intentionality added, it’s just an exercise in obviousness that is a bit of a waste of time and cycles.
And alternate headline could have been “Biker shoots woman who hit them with her car, then pointed weapon”
***Yup.
There is probably much more to this story.
***There always is.
The answer to my question is: It’s not murder when the guy had called 911 PRIOR to the shooting, had stood at a distance, and she pointed her weapon at him first. That’s how. And that’s how you answer such a question rather than attempting to browbeat someone without adding additional factuality.
As good as any, fool. Swerve your 2000 pound car into me and if you didn’t kill me, you would receive the same solution as this woman. You can’t use a motor vehicle as a weapon, like she did.
