Saudi Arabia keeps lid on oil output as US gas prices rise

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — Saudi Arabia is signaling it isn’t willing to pump more oil and won’t push for changes to an agreement with Russia and other producers that has kept a lid on oil production levels.

This has Washington concerned as gasoline prices rise and tensions with Russia over Ukraine fuel market uncertainty.

The Biden administration dispatched Brett McGurk, the National Security Council’s Middle East coordinator, and the State Department’s energy envoy, Amos Hochstein, to Riyadh on Wednesday to talk about a range of issues — chief among them the ongoing war in Yemen and global energy supplies.

Asked by reporters in Washington whether the U.S. officials were also urging Saudi Arabia to pump more crude to alleviate high oil prices, White House press secretary Jen Psaki said she did not have more details on the meeting.

A White House official said the two U.S. officials had not asked the Saudis to increase oil production at their meetings in Riyadh. The person insisted on anonymity.

Senile Joe has strangled domestic production and stopped the pipeline from Canada.
He put us back at their mercy.

Hey AP, don't even think of blaming Saudi Arabia for Dementia Joe's crimes.
It was Dementia Joe who canceled the oil pipelines in the US, canceled drilling on federal lands etc.
I am just loving Dementia Joe's pain and very low
approval ratings over high gas prices right now.

The only person keeping a lid on oil production is Biden.

Why? Because they know they got Biden. Plain and simple.

Biden won’t open or encourage US drilling. US drilling will basically collapse, so Biden just handed a renewal on the Mid-East oil cartel. The Saudis and just about everyone else will now make a killing as the supply goes down and the price sky rockets.

The question is, is this intentional on the part of Biden to “necessarily see prices skyrocket”.

Gasoline could very well hit $4.50, diesel $5.00 by summer. I’ve always said that there are 2 surefire ways to get someone’s immediate attention. Threaten his family or get in his wallet on a regular basis. Energy prices do the latter. The electric bill and gas bill comes every month. You put gas or diesel in your vehicle every few days. You actually see the dollars add up on the pump and you’re going, WTF!

I’ve always contended that if we did away with income tax withholding from paychecks and sent a bill to each wage earner every month for which he had to set down and write an actual check there would be hell to pay.

Have you ever wondered how they got people to accept withholding? Look up the history.

The article leaves out some important things.

Saudi Arabia’s break-even price for oil was around $105 the last time a I saw an article on that. That what it takes to pay for their welfare state, the thousands in the Royal Family, etc. They have no incentive to lower prices.

Some other OPEC countries can’t even make those small production increases that Biden thinks are too low. They didn’t invest in exploration over the last 4-5 years, and they can’t produce more oil now or in the next-3-5 years. They are coming up about 300,000 barrels a day short.

Under Trump we produced 22-23mm barrels of oil a day.
Under Biden we are producing 19mm barrels a day.

Some big green investors won’t invest in oil now, hurting exploration and future production.

Hi. We’re screwed, unless we are energy investors.
