WASHINGTON — Over the past few months, Sen. Mitt Romney, R-Utah, has quietly pushed for a Republican-friendly version of the expanded child tax credit that he hopes could gain bipartisan support.
His proposal would bring back the direct monthly payments many parents used for six months last year to cover the cost of food, clothing and child care before Congress let the tax credit expire.

Maybe Bain Capital could focus on companies that pay decent wages, make stuff in America and do not hire illegal aliens or use fraudulent H1B visa holders instead of asking the shrinking pool of middle class taxpayers to subsidize their profits from low-wage jobs.

It should expire. They should get back to work. I see so many help wanted and hear the same stories where people take the job and quit in a week when they realize work is involved. I’m not sure I could find starting pay no experience under 12/hr and it’s still not enough to entice Gen Z
A child tax credit should not be dependent on how much income you make to make it fair for one. Secondly, a child tax credit should be somehow dependent on if you are in fact providing adequate care for the children in your household and not buying phones, sneakers and other BS with taxpayer money.
They want to smoke their pot.
A lot of families got a shock at tax time when they realized the money was an advance and not in addition to the child tax credit. The money was actually helpful for us due to inflation and having a new baby. But I really dont want it again.
And those of us that are FINKs*? So sad, to bad, NOT your dad.

A tax “credit” for people who don’t work is simply welfare. Anyone who isn’t paying taxes is on welfare, living off the fruits of the labor of those who do pay taxes.

I pay quarterly, and took mine by cutting my quarterly payments. Then when Brilliant Joe Biden decided to send checks, I was able to stop mine from coming, but not Mrs. Flash’s because now you have to sign up with some dodgy private company.
So I had to tell her we needed to save all her checks return the money, she couldn’t get the idea that it was extra free money without accountability.
I also told her that lots of people would be screaming when they found out it wasn’t a new free gift from the government, but just their own money sent early, which they would not have later when they expected it.
It didn’t take a genius to figure this all out, but it did make it more obvious if you had the minimal sense to realize there’s no free lunch. Many don’t.
Anything Romney does is dishonest and selectively enforced.

Unfortunately, the population is much smaller than the blue states, and the rabid commies are moving in from CA, and/or being generated by UofU and BYU more rapidly than the conservative natives can raise their offspring.

This is garbage. . My seven brothers and sisters and I were raised by two parents after the depression without a penny from anybody. We grew up better for it.
