Failing to Defeat Them, Putin Asks Ukrainian Soldiers to Stage a Coup
Breitbart ^ | 02/25/2022 | Kurt Zindulka

Russian leader Vladimir Putin called on Ukranian soldiers on Friday to defect and stage a coup against President Volodymyr Zelensky, whose government Russia has so far failed to topple despite launching a “full-scale” invasion on Thursday.

Addressing a meeting of the Russian Security Council on Friday, Vladimir Putin said that Ukrainian Army should “take control” of the country as it would be “easier” for him to negotiate with the military, rather than what he termed as “junkies and neo-Nazis” under the control of President Zelensky.

Putin overestimated the capabilities of his troops and underestimated how much the Ukrainians would fight back.

Boy, this war is taking forever! It’s been like ... what? ... two days? And he hasn’t won yet? What a loser!

“This is blowing up in his face.”

My guess is that he doesn’t want to blow up a bunch of civilian buildings and cause mass casualties. Not because he cares, but it’s a bad look with the folks back home.

I also guess that he’ll do what it takes to get this done, that is, replace the Ukrainian government.

No one ever addresses it, but how would life change for the average Ukrainian? Their current government is corrupt, so it gets replaced with a new corrupt government, so what?

He just wanted to install the new government and be done. He may be facing a long insurgency.

Biden didn’t expect this either when he gave Putin the green light to invade.

I doubt it. As far as I can tell, he wants to take out assets first. He does not want to take out cities. This is not WWII.

Is Russia really stalling, or is Brietbart looking for any hope to cling to here?

No one expected Ukraine to fall in a day, but Biden’s proposed remote training of Ukrainians to become soldiers thereby was a stroke of genius. /sarc.

If these people were around in 1941, we'd have surrendered to the Japanese on December 9th. All hope would have been lost!

I have similar thoughts. I just do not see the conquest of Ukraine as his goal. I think he has specific targets in mind (think think certain labs) and a better grip on the secessionist territory’s. Outside of that the desire to replace a pro west corrupted government with a pro Russia corrupt government.

Killing a lot of civilians just does not work to his favor in any of those goals.

“....Their current government is corrupt, so it gets replaced with a new corrupt government, so what? ....”

That will likely be the case. Corrupt but Russian oriented instead of Western oriented. Probably not a noticeable change to the average Ukrainian.

Inquiring minds want to know, will our elites still have offspring be on the gas board?

In Crimea....the Ukrainian Army either walked away or stayed and gave up and refused to fight brother to brother.

I agree. That’s my suspicion. Not just for the folks back home, but he knows that the world views him as the aggressor, despite his claims about being some sort of victim in all this, and if they go full bloodbath it will be harder on them in the long term.

But his strategy will change sooner or later if he needs to.

I think he blew the start date by a couple of weeks.
Kept his troops overlong waiting to jump off.
Of course Ukraine dithered and didn’t mobilize
soon enough also.

Miss steps all around, not helped by the imbeciles
running the administration...
