I saw one happen just the other day.
A particularly egregious anti-Trump statement and when I went to check the poster’s history, the account had been suspended.
“He could easily be prosecuted for war crimes if he ever leaves his little burg.”
I’m curious what war crimes he is accomplishing in todays definitions. The war crime definition today is a violation of the laws of war that gives rise to individual criminal responsibility for actions by the combatants, such as intentionally killing civilians or intentionally killing prisoners of war, torture, taking hostages, unnecessarily destroying civilian property, deception by perfidy, wartime sexual violence, pillaging, the conscription of children in the military, committing genocide or ethnic cleansing, the granting of no quarter despite surrender, and flouting the legal distinctions of proportionality and military necessity. This definition has a lot of points that we are currently doing like destroying the economy which will kill civilians, intentionally, destroying civilian property, and flouting the legal distinctions of proportionality and military necessity.
By taking the ability of the Russian population’s local money use and causing businesses to shut down is no different than what they are guilty of. Didn’t say they didn’t do it, just that the US and other countries are doing the same thing at the same time. And the determination of what is a strategic target is in the eyes of the beholder. We bombed a lot of civilian factories in WW II.
War is not the friendly badminton game played in the back yard. It is ugly and people get hurt. Plus if the Russian people don’t get him out, they are supporting the ugliness. So who’s responsible...the fool or the fool who follows?
