What is going on in Yemen is an Iranian backed insurgency intended to give Iran control of both sides of the entrance into the Persian Gulf so that it (and its ally Russia) can blackmail all the nations adjacent to the Gulf that need that route to be open in order to export oil, and manipulate nations outside of the Gulf that need oil should the Russia-Iran-Venezuela axis decide to cut supply.
