Have Biden Administration Policies Reduced U.S. Oil Production?
Newsweak ^ | Mar 8, 2022 | Alexandra Hutzler

The White House's energy agenda is under fire as gasoline tops $4.17 per gallon.

Republicans argue that President Joe Biden's temporary freeze on new drilling leases and other initiatives centered on clean energy have hurt the country's ability to produce its own oil and gas. Their criticism has ramped up as the conflict between Russia and Ukraine throws the global energy market into a tailspin, driving the price of crude oil up to $129 per barrel.

"You talk about weakness on the part of Joe Biden. He comes to office, and what does he do?" Representative Josh Hawley said at the Conservative Political Action Conference last month. "He shuts down American energy production and greenlights Russian energy production."....

Conservatives and members of the energy industry have specifically hit the administration for pausing new federal oil and gas leases and permits.

Early in his presidency, Biden signed an executive order directing the Interior secretary to halt new leases and begin a thorough review of existing permits for fossil fuel development. But 13 GOP state attorneys general sued and a federal judge in Louisiana blocked the order.

Then last month, the administration said it was again delaying decisions on new oil and gas leases after another legal battle resulted in a judge blocking officials from using higher cost estimates of climate change when making rules for polluting industries.....

"As an environmentalist, I wish the administration would crack down on fossil fuel drilling much, much more," Hartl told Newsweek. "I think in the long run, it's super harmful. But it's just not factually accurate for the industry to complain, 'We're so helpless' when they've been given a huge green light over the last year and they're sitting on thousands and thousands of permits to drill. What are they waiting for?"

What Newsweak neglects to mention is that Biden's policies are hostile against fossil fuels. As such the changing regulations companies have to comply make drilling on GVT lands risky and possibly unprofitable.

Anyone who lived during presidencies of Obama and Trump should know the answer to this. During 8 years of Obama, American people were constantly told drilling in th US will do nothing to lower cost of oil and gas. Trump gets in and opens up drilling and like some miracle that baffles liberals to this day, oil and gas prices drop. How can they still sell the idea that domestic drilling isn’t effective? Are our memories really that short?

Biden cleary caused economic “climate change”, under which only fools would throw their money away on investments that the government would work overtime to sabotage. THAT is “settled science”, because we have numerous recordings of lib government officials speaking those very intents with the words coming right out of their mouths.

California has rejected a permit request to resume drilling off the coast, citing environmental concerns.

A permit to drill is nothing more than a permit. It does not ensure success. I know of companies working out of Bakersfield and southeastern New Mexico that have permits never utilized because the seismics are negative, or because the return on investment is very limited. However, when the Feds issue permits for offshore the big boys have done their homework, and to my knowledge there has been no permitting offshore allowed under Biden.

When Trump was in office everything was his fault, even the virus.
Biden is in office and nothing is his fault and everyone else’s fault.

It is simply asking the question, no matter how they answer it, that is their contribution towards promoting the agenda.

Well let’s see....he immediately killed Keystone XL. Yes, as a Lefty on another board pointed out to me “that’s Canadian production, not US production”. To which I answered “I’m well aware of that, but it is a good bit of oil that would have been available on the domestic market in the US but which is now not available.”

Also Biden cancelled a lot of leases on federal lands.

Also Biden had the EPA reinterpret lots of environmental regulations such as the cost of carbon emissions that drove up the cost of producing oil and gas.....thus reducing production in the US.

Also, Biden jawboned the Banks into not providing nearly as much funding for oil and gas production.

The effect of all of this was that not only did domestic production and availability of Canadian oil on the US market stop growing like it had been, but it declined by about 2 million BPD. This was very much a the result of deliberate policy by the Biden regime. Biden and the Democrats own the gas prices and the soaring Bidenflation.

Neglected mentions.
Besides the KeystoneXL pipeline shut down, there were 7 other pipelines shut;

A judge canceled the lease of the largest Gulf of Mexico tract ever yesterday. Biden has no plans to contest;

Reason for above is because most or all offshore leases come up for renewal this year, Biden does not plan to renew any of them;

Big American fossil fuel investment firm under Biden Admin pressure withdraws from all US fossil fuel investments;

Janet Yellen yelled at the world banking system not to invest in any fossil fuel related business or face consequences.

My prognosis is that before Biden’s term in office expires gasoline, diesel, fertilizer, plastics etc will be hard to find at any price. EV’s will still cost arms, legs, and your first born to purchase. Electric prices will be astronomical. Blackouts brownouts will be a way of life. Choice will often be do you refrigerate your medicine or your food. US dollar will be worth less that the Ruble is today.

Trump gets in and opens up drilling and like some miracle that baffles liberals to this day, oil and gas prices drop.

We produced about as much oil in 2021 as we did in 2020 yet gas prices shot up.

Global demand is the driver.
