Zurich (AFP) – The World Economic Forum said Wednesday it was freezing all relations with Russian entities, and would not allow anyone on the sanctions list to take part in the annual high-powered meeting in Davos.
"Following its condemnation of Russia's ongoing attack on Ukraine, the forum is complying with the evolving international sanctions and following the rapidly-developing situation," the WEF said.
“Therefore the forum freezes all its relations with Russian entities, and will not engage with any sanctioned individual or institution in any of our activities, inclusive the annual meeting" in Davos, it added.
The WEF usually hosts its annual gathering of the global political and business elite in the luxury Swiss resort of Davos in January, but the meeting has been postponed until May 22-26 this year due to concerns over the coronavirus pandemic.
Top Russian politicians, businessmen and oligarchs are commonly seen at the plush event.
But now, "the champagne and caviar days in Davos are over. Or at least the caviar," as Politico put it.
Among those who have been slapped with Western sanctions over the invasion is President Vladimir Putin himself, who has participated in several Davos meets.
WEF founder Klaus Schwab had said he hoped the event could "contribute with some bridge building".

Putin was a YGL but perhaps, he did that in his role of KGB operative, just to find WTF they were all about, NOT as a bootlegging sycophant, like Prime Mistake True-dolt. In that regard, Putin should be commended. As for the rest of his actions in Ukraine, maybe not so much.
Interesting to see the calm treatment of the WEF.
It is as if they are simply a group of nice folks planning to do good things for all the people of the world instead of plotting to end private property and rule the world!
That is the agenda. BEWARE and study the people involved.
The WEF is literally the real life Legion of Doom.

Meh...looks like it’s time to establish Regional/Other economic forums. The WEF could use some competition.
Somebody needs to steer an iron metorite onto that annual gathering of the global political and business elite in the luxury Swiss resort of Davos.
One about the size of a locomotive should do the trick quite nicely.
