Russian Troops In 40-Mile Convoy Could Die In Tanks From Cold: Report
NDTV ^ | Mar 9, 2022 | Edited by Amit Chaturvedi

With temperatures set to plunge in Ukraine in the coming days, Russian soldiers in the 40-mile convoy of tanks could freeze to death. Glen Grant, a senior defence expert at the Baltic Security Foundation, told Newsweek that the tanks will turn into huge refrigerators for the Russian army if they are not running the engine. "The boys won't wait, they will get out, start walking to the forest, and give themselves up to avoid freezing to death," Grant added.

The concerns have been raised as the convoy, heading towards Ukraine capital Kyiv, has slowed down amid the war. It is currently 19 miles from the city centre, The Independent reported.

Eastern Europe will soon be under the grip of a cold snap around the middle of the week, during which the temperature is expected to drop to minus 20 degrees Celsius. Kyiv and other areas are already experiencing minus 10 degrees Celsius.

Former British Army Major Kevin Price told The Daily Mail that Russians' tanks will become nothing more than “40-ton freezers” as the mercury drops. He added that bitter conditions will destroy the morale of troops not prepared for Arctic-style warfare.

The convoy has been stuck due to mechanical problems and fuel supply issues, as reported by multiple publications.

The plunging temperature could also create trouble for thousands of refugees who are leaving Ukraine.

The Russians thought that they would win the war in less than one week. That’s what they prepared for.

That’s just nonsense and even our military leaders know better.

Putin thought that he could take Kyiv in less than a week. I doubt that military strategists thought that was possible. Putin’s Secretary of Defense is a firefighter. I think that tells you everything we need to know.

They would never throw a good vaxxer out like that. They are just too valuable in helping get the big lies out there.

Putin thought that he could take Kyiv in less than a week.

Could you post the transcripts of the rest of the secret Russian military planning sessions of the Ukraine invasion?

Asking for a friend.

Having a heater is less the issue than having the gas to run it.

I know. The Russian apologists are sweating a bit, now. I know many were expecting a swift Russian takeover to save us all, but the war has exposed Russian incompetency and second world status.

It also shows that a bunch of ill trained conscripts is just fodder. Soviet Union/Russia has never cared about casualties. Soviet Union lost 100,000 troops in Afghanistan and in WW2, chose to clear mine fields by having their troops run through them.

Putin is not stupid but you could say the same about Hitler. That’s the problem with being a dictator. You get bad advice. Once you make a decision, you tend to have to stick with it.

Valery was a “Bratok” in the Russian mob, acquainted with Tony Soprano through his business association with the organization.

Valery’s friend and boss Slava Malevsky revealed to Tony that they served together in the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation where he worked with the Russian Airborne Troops during the First Chechen War in Chechnya. Valery had personally killed 16 Chechen Republic of Ichkeria rebels, saving Slava’s life in the process.

In “Pine Barrens”, Paulie Walnuts and Christopher Moltisanti visited Valery at his apartment to collect payment. Valery readily handed over the envelope of money, but Paulie responded to a perceived slight by being intentionally careless with Valery’s entertainment system.

In the ensuing brawl, Christopher and Paulie believed they had killed Valery. They drove out to the Pine Barrens to dispose of him, but when they arrive, find him alive. They marched him into the snow to dig his own grave, but he attacked Paulie and Christopher with the shovel and ran.

Christopher and Paulie gave chase, firing as they ran. Paulie seemingly hit Valery in the head, leaving a trail of blood. The two men continued looking for him but eventually gave up, and realized they were lost in the wilderness in the middle of winter. Chris and Paulie then spent a miserable night in an abandoned van in the Pine Barrens.

On rescuing the pair, Tony made it clear that if Valery makes it back to North Jersey alive, it would be Paulie who would have to deal with Slava, not him. Valery’s fate after this point is unclear; Valery’s body was never found, and Paulie’s car was stolen from the remote location where it was parked in the wilderness. An HBO promo shows notable characters who have been murdered over the course of the series and does show Valery as having died in this episode, but with a question mark, indicating some doubt. David Chase said in an interview at the Writers’ Guild:

“ Not even sure I believe there IS a “convoy”.

There isn’t. The satellite photos were actually created in Adobe Photoshop .

Wondered about apparent lack of fuel and water tankers. From videos showing destroyed supply trucks it appears that almost all Russian trucks use same chassis with canvas covers....tank truck hulks had the canvas cover tube frames clearly visible. All appear same, foiling aerial recon.

In fact might just be that most of the ‘stuck’ convoy consist are fuelers....
