Inept' Russian tactics baffle military experts: Tank commanders allowed Ukrainians to ambush them by driving straight up a main road as analysts say they've lost enough armoured vehicles to equip the ENTIRE German army

Military experts said they are baffled by Russian military tactics after a tank column was ambushed yesterday

Ukrainian forces surprised the column - that included some 30 tanks and support units - with artillery strikes

The tanks were forced to retreat after missiles rained down from above, destroyed a number of vehicles

The full scale of losses suffered by Putin's armies are unknown, but Ukraine has claimed it has destroyed over 12,000 troops, 350 tanks, 80 helicopters, 125 artillery units, 1,150 personnel carriers and almost 60 planes

Figures based just on visual confirmations has put the Russian hardware losses over 1,000

Another story about russian incompetence. What you don't hear much of is Ukrainian brilliance. Far outnumbered at the beginning they adopted an economy of force operation to concentrate at Kiev, at the expense of the south. Thus they denied the russians their primary objective.

It’s really a consequence of the oligarchy in action. The oligarch prioritized keeping the population in live over the survival of Russia itself.

This could prove fortuitous, as the population seeing how everything is falling apart might rise up and displace their leaders.

Maybe Russian generals are under severe pressure to get results fast.

The Russians ofhen have little to no support. A unit with 40 tanks is easily squadron level, and should have a hq element or additional recon troop. How hard would it be for them to deploy a FLIR drone as the vanguard? Should be pretty easy to spot a couple guys hanging out in the woods by the highway!

The Russians did one thing right. They launched the attack near the end of winter. This gives them the maximum time before next winter could big them down.

Which side is most likely to exhaust their military resources first? I wonder how much Putin is willing to sacrifice and still keep Russia secure and himself in power?

It also depends on how much troops are willing to fight.

British ex-Army soldier/merc goes to war in Ukraine - gets hit with rockets/helicopter fire

- runs scared into the woods - gets picked up by Ukraine Territorial Defense who

torture him thinking he's a Russian spy - gets released, immediately goes back to UK.

“They fight like lions.”

Another report that the Ukrainians are honey badgers, mauling Putin’s “Why are we here? I want my mommy” conscripts.

You are clearly unfamiliar with the concept of General Mud in that part of the world.

Ask Napoleon or Hitler about him.

I heard an interesting analysis from a retired high level US military man with European experience. He said the Ukrainian soldiers were far better trained than the Russians, and it shows. He recommended not doing something rash that will trigger Putin to worse moves. He also suggested that Ukraine mine the seas off their coast to discourage the ships that are goint to try to land to take Odessa. There has been so much graft and corruption in the Russian military that Putin has probably been shocked at how badly the troops were trained, supplied and have performed. Where has the money gone? Already he has fired 8 top brass, and is mad at the FSB for lousy information. Some one or more will probably have to get rid of Putin just to keep from being found out and executed.

Regarding using drones. Did anyone see the photo of the housewife who clobbered a drone with a pickle jar full of pickles? Apparently it was snooping around her apartment building windows. Even woman have the warrior spirit.

We were lied to for a couple years by our politicians and press about Russian collusion.

We were lied to from our politicians and press about the integrity of our election results

We were lied to by our politicians and press about the Covid virus and the safety of vaccines versus the dangers of alternative medicine.

Why does anyone believe what our politicians and press are claiming is happening between Russia and Ukraine?

It’s to our advantage for Russia to overthrow Putin, they can get their western trade back if Putin is gone and the Russian government is overthrown by its own people.

China owns Russia at this point otherwise. I’ll bet they orchestrated some of this through Biden.

In connection with my Comment #13 I forgot to include the following importment point made by the military man. He said the key to military success is sergeants, which includes in the Ukraine military, but not the Russian army. Sergeants keep the troops in line, they also make sure the troops get the supplies they need. How do you think they stay fat? They are generally in for multiple deployments or until retirement, and make sure that they and their men stay as comfortable as possible. This keeps morale high.

Ukraine has never been “brilliant” in any war against Russia including this one.
Another day, even more propaganda from The Daily Mail.

Missing in all discussions on this war is the role of U.S. military satellites, feeding high quality info to Ukrainians.

It is not mentioned but I would be surprised they didn’t.

Ziskey had it wrong. The Russians aren’t pussies, they just fight ineffectively.

Worst military ever. There will be comedic movies made mocking Russian incompetence.
