Congress has once again deferred making a decision as to whether to finally end draft registration or to expand it to include young women as well as young men. The final version of this year’s annual National Defense [sic] Authorization Act (NDAA) approved by Congress on December 14th and signed into law on December 27th by President Biden makes no change to the provisions of the Military Selective Service Act (MSSA) which authorize the president to order men, but not women, to register with the Selective Service System (SSS) for a possible military draft. This leaves the current Selective Service registration and address reporting requirements (applicable to young men but not women) in effect, and the issue unresolved.
Earlier this year, both the House and Senate Armed Services Committees voted, without debate or hearings on Selective Service, to recommend that the Fiscal Year 2022 NDAA include a section that would have expanded draft registration to women. A version of the NDAA including this provision was approved by the full House of Representatives (without a floor vote on any of the proposed amendments related to Selective Service), and was on the verge of approval in the Senate.
However, in the face of a deadlock in the Senate over this and other provisions of the NDAA, House and Senate leaders worked out a back-room package of compromises that included removing the section of the FY 2022 NDAA that would have expanded draft registration to women.

Yup. And its fair and equal treatment.
And there will be plenty of non-combat places to put them as well, there are multiple people behind each infantryman supporting logistics and support. They can do needed logistics in an office or warehouse, they don’t have to go to combat. In fact they should not be put into squads because they reduce squad mission capability and morale. But they can be useful in support roles and not reduce fighting ability.

Even if we started the draft, Putin won’t give a crap anyway. He knows full-well just what kind of people we’d be drafting.
This government does not deserve our children to fight their boutique wars of convenience. And drafting females is more of the anti-family anti-baby agenda.
It’s a crime take young girls and send them out to fight your wars.
Some will chime in with the non-combat jobs they can be given. But that is no longer permissible in US law.
Then there is a constitutional amendment against slavery.
“Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.”
They wrote in no exception for a draft. And they were well aware of the concept just used in the civil war and did not want it repeated.

That is not legal under US law. They will be infantry, and everything surrounding that.
The draft for U.S. citizens needs to be done away with. Let them draft illegal aliens.

Drafting your daughters is the equivalent of eating your seed corn, they have the children and mostly raise them (except ones who slough all the yeoman’s work onto dad or the government). Oh wait, we have “birthing people” now, never mind.
Limit fighting forces to those who complained they were discriminated against. Women, gays, etc under an all black leadership. What we have now couldn’t hold our constitution.
If women are going to demand half the programming jobs, half the engineering jobs. half the CEO jobs, then they should be half of those on the front lines. You can’t demand half of the prestige jobs.
They should be half the fatalities as well. If they are running below expectations on fatalities, then the proportion in the front needs to be adjusted so the fatalities are equalized.
I doubt that particular talent pool will be tapped by the draft.
The draft must be expanded. Inclusion makes a better military. So we’ve been told.
