My wife and I used to love visiting San Fran. I don’t remember the year we were last there; but whenever it was, it’s the last time will will ever go.

Frisco (they hate its being called that) is or was a spectacular city. Naturally air-conditioned most days of the year, light jacket or long sleeves weather, spectacular views from hills, really quite the place.

It used to refer to itself as ‘The City’ and looked down its nose at ugly, sprawling L.A. But it has always been a bit off. In fact it prides itself as being odd. Look up Emperor Norton. But in the past, the sane population outnumbered the crazies. I no long think that is true.

I’m old enough to reminisce about those days when one could excitedly sing “California Here I Come.”

Now, I wouldn’t set foot on a single parcel of California property for any reason, even a family funeral.
