Republican Senate candidate Herschel Walker cast doubt on the theory of evolution in recent remarks, saying the fact that apes and humans coexist disproves accepted science.
“At one time, science said man came from apes, did it not? ... If that is true, why are there still apes? Think about it,” Herschel said in an appearance at Sugar Hill Church in Georgia on Sunday.

LOL, that UGA education.
Cringe.
But we are not electing people to be teachers or theologians or scientists.
Yep the issue of evolution is not a hot issue in this Senate campaign. Let’s never mention this again.
Why are there still bacteria?
True, but from apelike creatures. However, thats been disproven by simple genetics.. not even the complex depths of genetic which makes evolution probability zero.
Evolution is based more than the acceptance of materialist premises rather than any actual evidence.
I like Herschel, but it doesn’t sound like he’s done sufficient research into evolutionary theory to debate the subject.
Seconded.
“Why are there still bacteria?”
For the same reason there are still Democrats.
This man needs a wise counseling in the ways of politics and winning elections. Instead of speaking of the Origin of the Species, he should be talking about the debasement of the Specie.
Bulldog gonna Bulldog.
Don’t go there, Herschel. Stay in your Political Candidate Lane. You have never been known as an Anthropoligist or Evolution Theory Historian, don’t start pretending right now.
It would be too easy to make him sound like a Kook.
First person who says ‘Apes’ or ‘Monkeys’ looses.
Too easy to take out of context.
If the Gateway Pundit said the same thing about Stacey Abrams, the legacy media would be screaming RACISM.
But, the Huffing and Puffington Post is a immune.
All they did was quote Walker. Apparently accurately.
All of the old high school textbooks had that “Encino Man” chart showing man evolving from something resembling an ape.
Um...
‘...not even the complex depths of genetic which makes evolution probability zero.’
uh, yeah, okay...
“Resembling an ape” but not an ape as we recognize it.
I don’t think Walker was “debating” the issue, he made some off-the-cuff comment at a church.
