I think she’s a woman with a brilliant imagination, a very good writer, and someone who has done and is still doing a lot of good work in the world by fighting against the notion that ‘sex’ isn’t really based on DNA. (Not to mention all of the good she’s done in leading young people to understand the joys of reading.)
If your problem is ‘magic’, then you are also going to have to reject a whole lot of the great works of world literature, some of them extremely old and highly revered.
