Prison overcrowding will be the next excuse for not prosecuting criminals.
“One of the prisons closing is Southport. BAD Super-Max Prison”
Hasn’t been for the past few years. They spent 20 million converting it to a “step down” program jail a year or two ago.
NY has made “solitary confinement” (SHU) essentially illegal. They now can only be put in SHU for a maximum of 15 days, no matter what the infraction is. Kill a staff member? Get outside charges and 15 days. Do you think a lifer gives a crap?
NY prisons have seen dramatic increases in assault on staff and the response from the Commissioner was to send a strongly worded letter to all the inmates.
We are working in much more hazardous conditions than we were in the past and it is only going to get worse.
But hey, some of us still get our 75 cents an hour hazard pay, so it’s all good, right?
What they need are reforms aimed at curbing crime.
My guess is the Left will say crime is down because fewer people are being arrested and prison populations are down.
Dims and libs will make excuses as the violent rises everywhere; due to them. Your job is to push back.
Update...
Rumor de jour: Prisons will be repurposed to house refugees.
Update. Looks like Deep State wants to close five more prisons...
Yup, that’s 5 more in addition to the six that were recently closed.
Rumors are running wild that the former prisons will be repurposed to house migrants.
Who cares? A more important question would seem to be -
How will it impact they safety of local citizens?
