Alexandre Dumas was a French novelist, author of Three Musketeers, Count of Monty Crisco (my spelling), and also he was black. I tried reading Three Musketeers once, and found it too dumb to get past a few chapters. He really was a dumb-as.
> I tried reading Three Musketeers once, and found it too
> dumb to get past a few chapters.
Perhaps it depends on the translation.
We had to read it in French for French class in my sophomore year. I remember being very entertained by it, but some of the satire only made sense in French and in a French context.
For example, my Italian relatives had a lot of fun using idiomatic expressions when I took them literally.
...tried reading Three Musketeers once, and found it too dumb to get past a few chapters...
However it made for a good Classic Comic.
“I tried reading Three Musketeers once, and found it too dumb to get past a few chapters. He really was a dumb-as.”
Probably lost something in translation from the orignial Ebonics.
