Russia Broadens Mariupol Assault as Signs of Stalemate Take Shape
New York Times via Yahoo ^ | March 21st, 2022 | Valerie Hopkins

LVIV, Ukraine — Firing rockets and bombs from the land, air and — probably for the first time — from warships in the Sea of Azov, Russian forces broadened their bombardment of the besieged Ukrainian city of Mariupol on Sunday and have forcibly deported thousands of residents, according to city officials and witnesses.

Among the freshly devastated was an art school, where about 400 residents were hiding, according to city officials who claimed it had been bombed by Russian forces targeting civilians. The number of casualties was not known.

Into the fourth week of the Russian assault on the country, the coastal city — a strategic port that would give Russia control over much of Ukraine’s southern coast — has increasingly become a grim symbol of Russian frustration that its superior manpower and weaponry have not forced the quick capitulation of the country. And it has come to symbolize Russia’s brutality, with its forces increasingly targeting civilian sites with long-range missiles to crush the public’s spirit and break the Ukrainian military resistance.

The city has been without food, water, electricity or gas since the early days after the Feb. 24 invasion. But its situation deteriorated even more over the weekend, with reports of raging street battles and Russian forces successfully conquering three neighborhoods. On Sunday morning, the Azov battalion, a Ukrainian regiment that has drawn far-right fighters from around the world and is charged with the city’s defense, said four Russian naval vessels had shelled the city. Largely cut off from the outside world, the toll on civilians there is difficult to assess.

“New York Times”, makes me immediately doubt the veracity of __________ being reported.

President Trump is on with Stuart Varney right now. He is calling for the United States to do much more militarily. He is completely clear about that.

It’s simple, the “do-nothing,Putin is justified,it’s all about Soros” crowd does NOT stand with Trump.

I stand with Trump and we all should.

He was absolutely clear, that Rusdia must be stopped and we must do much more militarily. More than the jets. And that we must not be scared of the nuclear threat.

That is my president.

So what was Russia's original plan, for it to be over in one day? Based on what? Who said? Maybe the plan all along was to move slowly and cautiously to avoid civilian casualties. Maybe Ukraine on the other hand want's as many casualties as possible to garner support. Too bad we don't have a single credible source for what is going on. But that is by design, they have full control of the information you are getting. Please keep that in mind.

Biden will do more, once the bribe is big enough.

Putin needs an old-fashioned battle-wagon lobbing 16” shells. Knock down one of those big apartment buildings with a single hit.

Trump's wrong on this, like he was on the vaccines. No one is infallible. But Trump is the best hope for America in the role of POTUS.

I’ll keep in mind what President Trump is saying right now. The total opposite of your propaganda. Move on.

Is there a citation available?

Move on.

I'll not move on, we have no business being involved with the corruption or war in Ukraine. I don't care what Trump says on this. No more American blood or treasure should be sacrificed for this corrupt shit hole called Ukraine.

So what was Russia's original plan, for it to be over in one day? Based on what? Who said?

From the Russian actions on day one it is clear that they were attempting a coup de main against what they thought would be lightly defending Ukrainian forces and that yes, they thought it would be over in a day or two. That they were not able to accomplish this does not mean that they can not win with a more prolonged conventional campaign, but they clearly did not achieve the quick victory that they had anticipated.

It's not clear to me.

Based by inference on the otherwise absurd operations of the first three days, and possibly those of the first week and a half or so.

The annihilation of an airborne regiment wasted in fruitless attempts to, without hope of effective relief, to take two airfields near Kiev. Part of this involved flying in to these airfields in AN-26 transports, meaning to land and unload or drop paras. In the face of functioning liw level SAM systems. That coup de main could only have worked against no resistance.

And then there were all these battalion sized columns that just took road trips down country roads from all directions, with no follow-up forces to secure logistics or rear security. Many were ambushed or cut off. Same reasons above, all this could only have worked against no resistance.

Trump kept Putin and the other empire-builders at bay BECAUSE he talked tough and took nothing off the table. If he was President, we wouldn’t be in this mess now.

And a “stalemate”? The Russians have been steadily advancing, moving strategically, and taking more territory regularly. The New York Times couldn’t tell the truth if it wanted to.

Ya, it's a shame they didn't have your military genius. You knew what their game plan was all along and could have saved them if only they had consulted you. We must protect you at all cost, for if you fail into their hands, Russia could conquer the world!
