Hawley demands fellow Republican [Greitens] drop out of Senate race: ‘You belong in handcuffs, not US Senate’

Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) bluntly told scandal-ridden former Gov. Eric Greitens (R-MO), who is running for the US Senate, that he should be in handcuffs following a court filing by his ex-wife who is accusing him of spousal and child abuse.

“If you hit a woman or a child, you belong in handcuffs, not the United States Senate,” Hawley asserted. “It’s time for Eric Greitens to leave this race.”

Hawley has endorsed Rep. Vicky Hartzler (R-MO) for the Senate seat. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) endorsed Missouri state Attorney General Eric Schmitt (R). Greitens is currently the front-runner for the GOP’s nomination in Missouri.

So he didn't even deny the bizarre affair - just claims they were consensual actions.

I wish him the best in putting his life back together but a credible Senate candidate he is not and politics and the spotlight are not the way to achieve that, either.

His anti-2A statements, long Democrat history and lack of conservative accomplishments as Governor followed by his resignation are just as troubling as the new allegations.

But hey, a queer with a blog thinks that he should be propped up for some reason.

I never heard of Greitens until today.

I am 100% for him now.

Greitens is damaged goods, but I don’t want Hawley to damage his name in going after him because saying if he’s done these things he doesn’t belong in the Senate then saying he therefore needs to drop out is tantamount to saying he’s guilty without a conviction, which the left does against Trump.

Sounds like he’s a good candidate for the Supreme Court with the present national morality.

While possible it was consensual (and 50 Shades of Grey selling 15 million copies in the US says it is), he is unsuitable for his role and there are better choices.

I tend to agree. Not sure all of this is deserved, but it may be time to pull back and regroup for him.

I live in MO so, of course, I have. He was elected governor but very shortly after he found himself indicted by a St. Louis district attorney for taking pictures of his hairdresser while she was tied up. The pictures have never been produced, and the only reference to their existence was in a phone call by the hairdresser’s husband. As this case began to fall apart, he was indicted for the crime of using his charity’s database for help with his political campaign. As a result of these charges, neither of which was proven, he resigned.

The prosecutor has since been disciplined for her possibly criminal shoddy work, which she of course blames on racism. She handily won re-election and is still holding office.

Rove’s involvement notwithstanding, Greitens is damaged goods. If he is nominated, he will lose and with it we’ll lose yet another Senate seat just like we did when we got Claire McCaskill. Hartzler and Schmitt would make better candidates and better Senators. Neither has the crap baggage that comes with Greitens.

“If you hit a woman or a child, you belong in handcuffs, not the United States Senate,”

I'm not going to defend Greitens, but Hawley making a statement like this is next-level cluelessness. A fair number of his colleagues in Congress belong in handcuffs, as well, yet he is silent about those scumbags.

Definitely presidential timber. He lies well. Doesn’t even bat an eye.

“Didn’t do nuffin’ but it was all consensual.” Now, that takes bankable lying talent.

Not smart on Hawleys part b/c a lot of of the accusations have proved to be untrue. Makes me think less of Hawley—especially the handcuffs part when he should be aware a lot what happened were political hit jobs.

The case against Greitens fell apart like week-old carp, but his estranged wife has done a follow-up throat chop calling out his wandrin’ ways.

Greitens is on Steve Bannon’s show all the time - they love him.

Personally, I can’t stand his annoying voice - but if Bannon is right, this might be an unfair Leftist attack, and Josh Hawlings is being a useful idiot fir the Left.

Greitens is a psychopathic deep state shill. He embarassed himself and the entire state years ago. The Missouri GOP is too dumb to understand Greitens is a sitting duck for media destruction and he will drown the party with him.
