NEW YORK (AP) — “Senator,” she said, letting out an audible sigh.
In that singular moment, Supreme Court nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson spoke for countless Black women who have had to gather all the patience, strength and grace within to answer insinuating questions about their credentials, qualifications and character.
It was Day One of questioning at the Senate Judiciary Committee as the Harvard-educated Jackson, the first Black woman to be nominated for the nation’s highest court, was making history.
The federal judge had to endure hours of public scrutiny from skeptics, namely the Republican senators who are erecting a wall of opposition to her landmark nomination, the first in the court’s 233-year history, and may vote en bloc against her confirmation.
“It was really traumatizing to watch,” said Melanie L. Campbell, president and CEO of the National Coalition on Black Civic Participation and convener of the Black Women’s Roundtable.
From questioning of Jackson’s view of books on critical race theory that drew her exasperated sigh — “They don’t come up in my work as a judge,” she said — to the loaded suggestion that the sentences she imposed on child pornography defendants were too lenient, the questions from the Republicans tapped into long-standing American grievances over race, class and public safety.
The insinuations that Jackson, a distinguished jurist and mother of two, is a secret radical liberal or poses a danger to the safety of children felt to some supporters as yet another example of highly qualified Black women having to endure indignities and distortions of their credentials, even as they shatter racial barriers in American society.

The lies never end.
1.the first Black woman to be nominated for the nation’s highest court
Wrong, the first nominated was defeated with a filibuster by none other than senator Biden.
2.From questioning of Jackson’s view of books on critical race theory that drew her exasperated sigh — “They don’t come up in my work as a judge
Lies of ommision. She said she didn’t know anything about crt, when in fact she has given speeches about it, sat on a school board that uses crt curriculum, and stared at a book as a ( Harvard senior) child written by the godfather of CRT at her parents house.
3.loaded suggestion that the sentences she imposed on child pornography defendants were too lenient,
She in fact gave below min sentances, not loaded, FACT.
public safety
The 3 month probation minus computer restrictions perp went on to commit another sex crime against a child
so it’s not a hypothetical, it’s a fact.
This article author can stuff it.
And if any were traumatized,
it was a child,
not a pedo enabler brown fan.
.sput
Who cares.
Show me a day when some group of ‘wymyn’ AREN’T traumatized over something imaginary.
THEN I’ll take notice! ;)
Keep putting us in pigeon holes, Socialists. We women like that. A lot! (NOT!)
Negro fatigue.
My pet rabbit is traumatized by the Easter Bunny.
As I, too, ride public transportation in SoCal, let me say that your post is spot on.
It is all so sad. They freak out of ANY challenge to whether they are doing right or wrong and ANY challenge of their accusation that someone else is wrong. The only description of what is going on now is the beginning development of absolute despotism in this country.
Yeah, where was she when the liberal leftists and the media were savaging Justice Thomas???????????????
Race baiting and damage control. The woman question went viral and they know it.
Not all of them, but well over half. I could repeat what you said a million times and not even get started.
I am old enough to remember when the AP actually meant something good.
I really don’t give a fig about how ANY of these self-described important persons feel.
As one who rides Metro North to NYC every day, I can also vouch that there is a certain class of rider who are always the loudest, most obnoxious people. They hog up an extra seat with all their crap. They also tend to slow down the conductor because they act surprised when asked for a ticket and go through a whole pantomime of trying to find their “lost” ticket. Eventually the conductor shrugs and moves on so they end up getting a free ride. They know that they will never get challenged for their behavior because...racism!
WHY should they???
We white, productive tax-payers support them-—CRADLE TO GRAVE.
Recently, a math person posted that with all the freebies & Section 8, etc, the average welfare recipient gets around $57,000 a year in benefits.
I worked for over 65 years & I get SOC SEC-—which I paid into-—and it doesn’t exceed $16,000 annually.
After watching the trauma of the hearings I now understand why so many of them go around looting beauty stores, stealing from the grocery stores and tearing up McDonald’s restaurants. It all makes sense to me now...
Thanks. A fellow traveller dares speak that which must not be said. 👍
Associated Propaganda
I wonder if the media will ever stop dividing the races with their inflammatory deductions?
As a white guy, I’m still scarred by what Kavanaugh was put through.
