The money quote:

"Thwaites couldone day become one of the most significant drivers of global sea level rise......."

They always hedge because they don't don't know what the hell is going to happen. The only thing they know for sure is that they want to fearmonger us into surrendering all power to them

Are these the ice sheets overtop that active volcano they discovered some years ago? Are they hoping we’re that dumb?

“ The water level will actually go down, frozen water by volume consumes more space and loses that after it melts”

What you’re missing here is that the floating ice will be protruding above the water surface, the volume of which is the difference in density between ice and water. When it melts, the water level will remain the same, but nothing will protrude above the water surface.

Think of it this way.

If you have a tank with 999 gallons of water in it and add a gallon, it will have 1000 gallons. If you freeze that gallon before you add it, it would float due to expansion, but there would still be 1000 gallons in the tank and the level would show as much. The expansion factor equals the volume of ice that is above the surface.

According to prior predictions, FL, with it’s highest elevation of 20’ above sea level, should already be underwater. Most of it is less than 10’ abs. The water table is 3-4’ in Ctrl FL.

The real issue they are facing is a couple of billion Asians now doing many of the jobs previously done in the West; they are going to want the cars, families, and detached single-family homes that for a long time were the reward for that work in the West.

Rather than watch that happen, our oligarchs want us out of our cars and homes, raising cats and dogs instead of children.

A volume of ice covering an area of 65,000 square miles would have to be about 4,300 feet thick to contain enough water to raise sea levels by two feet. This is about the volume of the entire Thwaites Glacier, not just the ice shelf in question (which, as you point out, is floating anyway). The entire glacier would have to melt with no snow and ice being added in the meantime to get that two-foot rise, which isn’t very likely.

The NatGeo writers are being dishonest again, no surprise.

Where’s the Outrage? My 380 Outrage is in dry storage at the boatyard. I don’t usually have in put in until the end of April.
That iceshert thing reminds me Ive got a deepwell that use for feeding the heatpump, 52°f year round. All use it to water the lawn and filkl the pool. Time for annual on the pool. Empty, cleaning, filtration overhaul, refill takes about 3 days.
Ive been in and out of Lynnhaven Inlet a hundred times a year for 68 years, I’m getting on in age. I can remember when they built Herd’s and when it burnt down. Sixtyeight years, every phase of tide and weather condition. Id the sea level has changed it’s miniscule. Same at the dock on the family property. I swam and fished of that dock as early as I can remember. Any sea level change is so small as to be irrelevant. Be careful in what you read and more so in what you accept as trugh.

Two years before, when she and her colleagues were deciding where to put their research camp, the entire floating ice shelf—a tongue of ice poking out from the enormous glacier behind it—was solid. It was plenty safe to plan a camp there, they thought......

If the ice shelf is floating, already in the water, it’s NOT going to raise the water level when it melts.

Changing state from solid to liquid does NOT add volume to the oceans.

It’s as simple as that, period. Problem is, we lost the public school system 75 years ago and the majority of the American people are incapable of critical thinking.

I live in the Soviet of Washington and my job takes me into the liberal city states of Tacoma, Seattle and Olympia. All areas that are insanely liberal compared to the areas where the normal people live. You would not believe all the people 30 and younger who still wear their face diapers, alone on the street, in their cars and they’ll be the ones wearing them while at work.

Anecdotally I would say 30% of the demographic I mentioned, urban young adults/kids, are totally gaslighted and fully propagandized, 100% programmed.

‘Climate change cult is as bad as the covid cult. Idiots and fake science.’

It’s my humble opinion that no foolishness the feckless human mind has ever devised has been as stupid and counterproductive as covid hysteria...

The assumption is the seas will rise.

My ‘sea’ level is 2000 mg per day, and works out just fine.

Globally, seas have risen a little over 8 inches since 1900, but the rise is accelerating:

Say what????

You aren’t a biologist? I bet you are a biologist, since my 5 year old knows the differences between a male and a female and he is a biologist according to Xiden’s Supreme Court nominee... 🤓

Melting sea ice does not raise ocean levels.
