One Lebanon City police officer was killed and two others were injured in a shooting Thursday that happened as they were responding to a report of a domestic disturbance, city officials said.
The officers were called to the 1100 block of Forest Street in Lebanon at 3:30 p.m., Lebanon Mayor Sherry Capello said. At 4:24 p.m., shots were exchanged between officers and a suspect, and three officers were hit, Capello said.
One officer died, Capello said. One of the surviving officers was in critical but stable condition Thursday night. The other officer was in stable condition.
Lebanon City Police Chief Todd Breiner said the suspect in the domestic disturbance call was a 34-year-old man who is now dead.
Police provided no other details about the incident.
The family of the officer who was killed was notified, but Capello said that out of respect for members of the extended family and their loss, the officer’s name was not released Thursday night.
The Lebanon County District Attorney’s Office is investigating the shooting, Breiner said.
“At this time, we are focused on the tragic loss of the officer and the well-being of the other members of our police department,” Capello said. “This is an extremely difficult moment for everyone.”
“Our guys are strong, but we’re human,” Breiner said. “With the help of our families and every other law enforcement officer around this country, we’ll get through it.
Capello said another press conference on the shooting would be held Friday.

I have driven through Lebanon most of my life. It has changed in the last two decades,, with the influx of immigrants. Same could be said for all small towns in America I suppose.

“the domestic disturbance call” is always dangerous. One Oakland, CA police officer walks to the front door of domestic disturbance call with two things: a rifle and a Bible. He then sits at the kitchen table, opens the Bible and ask everyone to sit with him.

Prayers to the officers and the family of the officers. I consider north of the tracks in Lebanon Indian country. It’s a whole new driving experience north of the tracks. Cars double parking, illegal dirt bikes on the street zooming in and out of traffic going the wrong way down a one way streets.
Puerto Ricans nearly outnumber whites in Lebanon now, if the 2020 census data can be believed. Lancaster is almost exactly the same ratio as Lebanon, with a lot of Dominicanos mixed in for good measure.
I haven’t been to Lebanon lately, but Lancaster is a complete shithole now and that’s not exactly a recent development.
