The four-day workweek just became a reality for dozens of companies across the U.S. and Canada, at least for the next several months.
The pilot program, being led by 4 Day Week Global, kicked off on Friday and is expected to last six months. Participating organizations include crowdfunding platform Kickstarter and a number of tech companies.

What a bunch of pansies. I’ve been working 6 days a week for about the past year. And making plenty of OT to boot.
That should work well with the CA’s living wage project of $500/week.
>> I’ve been working 6 days a week for about the past year.
You’re lame... lol. I’ve been doing 7 for the last two years.
Don’t tell me: Now the left is going to war against work. Yes, work is racist
I’m a bachelor, so I need at least 1 day off to do things like laundry, grocery shopping, etc.
Cuts worker’s commuting costs by 20%.
In PA that would be like getting gas for $3.43.
My entire working life I managed and owned restaurants my workdays were 12-15 hours a day 6-7 days a week, I am working part time now in my senior years and it is like a vacation!! GEEZE what the hell has happened to the work ethic of Americans AND who the hell can afford to work only 4 days when they are young raising a family??
Fair enough. I have a handmaiden for that stuff.
And plus you’re on your feet most of the time. I worked in the service industry in my younger days, and loved it.
You’re assuming they won’t be driving anywhere on there extra day off...factoid....they may be driving more on their day off.
My nephew-5 nine hour days one week 4-9 hour days the next(minus one). 3 day weekend ever other week. Building inspector(county).
There are 4.3 weeks in a month. 4.3 x 40hrs/wk = 172 hours/month. With flex time the guy who wants to make an extra buck(time and a hal should earn it in hour 173. Towards the end of the month the bosses will be forced to pay extra or find a way to give unpaid excused time. It would be great for family time.
Once you get used to it you THRIVE on it it is in your bloodstream, I believe that hard work throughout my life has kept me very healthy NOW in my senior years!! I actually love going to work!! I feel our WHOLE culture slipping away before my eyes in every damn direction, it is hard to keep up a fight on ALL FRONTS!!
Lots of companies have had 10 hour shifts and 4 day work week for decades. I know plenty of people who adore their 3 day weekends, many of whom prefer them to fall in the middle of the week so they can go places when they aren’t full of other people.
Or is this about working 32 hours a week and getting paid for 40? Gotta love the Zoomers... they think they know everything, just like I did when I was their age.
If the aggregate weekly hours drop and you still maintain the same number of hours you will make more in ‘OT.’
I would love a 4 day work week. Border Patrol Agents like myself have to work 5 10 hour work days. We only get straight time for the extra two hours a day not overtime. I like getting paid for the extra hours, but with the commute being almost an hour each way one feels like they have no time to spend with family or get things done.
If they can live on making less money, good for them.
They want their cake and eat it too. We all worked and know how this is going to work out for them.
As commutes get longer and longer, might as well make it four ten-hour days and avoid some of the commuting nightmares by starting earlier and leaving later.
Good that you’re healthy and active in your senior years ;)
Agreed regarding the culture slipping away. It’s a horror show.
