Glad they let everyone know their MO.

Their ‘MO’ has been known for decades. The tactic of shoot and move is not new.

[Glad they let everyone know their MO.]

This used to be known as a Parthian shot during the Roman era. Depending on how lucky they felt, Parthian cavalry archers would venture to somewhere within bow but outside of pilum range and unleash a salvo of arrows against Roman heavy infantry. Then they’d spur their horses to get out of danger before a reaction force of auxiliary cavalry could catch up.

This is tactics 101. The Russians gain nothing by reading this.

“Glad they let everyone know their MO.”

Shoot and scoot is as old as warfare.
The Mongols used it with great success, every guerilla outfit in history has used it as well.
Nothing new under the sun.
Only the weapons change.

Not exactly a secret tactic in modern warfare.
Mobile artillery has been doing it for a long time to avoid counter-battery fire.

Russians already know how they’re being used because they’ve lost so many vehicles to it. It’s not a secret tactic anyway, and there’s no real counter to it other than the obvious one of leading with a lot of infantry.

“Glad they let everyone know their MO.”

Which is abundantly obvious to observers and sadly immaterial to the Russians who adamantly refuse to abandon Soviet-era tactics.

The Russians went into this ill-considered adventure under the false impression that they’d be welcomed into Ukraine by the very same people they’ve been demonizing as “Nazis” for the past twenty years. They were not welcomed and were instead greeted with death both at the hands of the Ukrainians and by the inescapable facts of Russian tactical incompetence.

The Russians wanted the Ukrainians to engage in tank battles and the Ukrainians instead sent infantry out to slaughter the Russian tankers.

The Russian armor time and again rode into action without infantry to protect them and time and again they got killed and the Ukrainians inherited all manner of abandoned Russian equipment. Give it six months and the Ukrainians will have more Russian tanks than Russia does.

Where the hell is the Russian air cover? Once again the idiot Russians are slaves to Soviet tactics in which aircraft are wasted as mere airborne artillery instead of being used to amplify the movement of ground forces. The Russian air units are using unguided munitions while the Ukrainians are destroying said air units with precision weaponry.

All this to say that telling the Russians how the Ukrainians are winning is irrelevant because the Russians are obviously too stupid or too arrogant to accept the fact that seven decades of Soviet tactical beliefs are WRONG.

Now the Russians have given up on conquering Ukraine and instead are trying to just slice off a portion of it. And that’s going to fail because the emboldened and motivated Ukrainians are going to slaughter their way through the remaining Russian invaders until they retake their country...likely to include Crimea since it’s being used as a base for offensive operations against Ukraine.

Russia is hosed. By the end of the summer they’ll be ousted from all of Ukraine and from all of Crimea, as well. I won’t be at all surprised if the Ukes even slice off parts of Russia as buffers to ensure their future security.

Further, within one or two years of Russia’s defeat in this war look for Ukraine to join NATO along with both Finland and Sweden who are expected to join NATO this year.
