The Big Apple mom who crashed Mayor Eric Adams’ press conference Monday to blast him over his tot mask mandate was fired shortly afterward from her job at the city Law Department ...

Daniela Jampel, who served as an assistant corporation counsel, learned she was canned less than an hour after she confronted a caught-off-guard and apparently annoyed Adams over when he would “unmask our toddlers.”

...

“Three weeks ago, you told parents to trust you that you would unmask our toddlers,” Jampel told the mayor.

“You stood right here, and you said that the masks would come off April 4. That has not happened.”

...

Jampel – a leading local critic of the toddler mask mandate and pandemic school closures – was informed by e-mail shortly after the presser that she was fired.

...

Jampel told The Post in a statement, “I am retaining counsel and will not litigate in the press.”

The mother of three had been out on maternity leave for the past eight months while actively speaking out against COVID-19 restrictions in Big Apple schools and is the co-founder of the advocacy group “Keep NYC Schools Open.”

A source familiar with the matter said Jampel appeared to be in good standing with her bosses as recently as mid-February, when one of them approved her request for extended maternity leave.

The higher-up approved her request and said her colleagues were looking forward to working with her again upon her return

...

About two weeks ago, Jampel attended a rally against the toddler mask mandate and was quoted in The Post criticizing Adams for “not following the science.

“This is making a mockery of the science. This is playing us for fools,

Good for her to check legal counsel. Not sure if that goes anywhere, but worth a try.

Children are the government’s property. Any parent who interferes with government property needs to be dealt with harshly.

Every citizen has the right to free speech, and the right to petition the government for redress of grievances. But only if you follow the party line.

Good: “I am very upset with Republican governor DeSantis.”
Not good: “I am very upset with Democrat mayor Adams.”

If he’s dumb enough and vain enough to think firing this woman will be the end to any direct criticism of his job performance, he’s going to be wrong.
Who does he think he is, The Fidel Castro of NYC?

These cities already had problems hiring talented people. Now as they chase them away due to the egos of the administration and short-sighted budget cuts, the decline will continue.

Who would risk employment and their pension in New York City government? Better to never have started working there.

Eight month maternity leave?

Sure, no problem for guvmint employees. You just come back when you feel up to it and your (totally worthless) job will be there for you.

… and is the co-founder of the advocacy group “Keep NYC Schools Open.”

As a general rule, I would never allow government employees to join advocacy groups whose mission involves lobbying government for any cause. On its face, it would seem that this is a clear conflict of interest.
