Elite Russian regiment seen as 'best of the best' has 39 more members slaughtered in Ukraine The 331st Guards Parachute Regiment

A regiment of elite Russian fighters have suffered heavy losses at the hands of the fierce Ukrainian resistance, it has been reported.

The 331st Guards Parachute Regiment are considered among the most fearsome and well-trained in the Russian army, having fought for the city of Ilovaisk in the Donbas in 2014.

Their involvement in Russia's invasion of Ukraine this year, and fatalities they've suffered, is indicative of how the invasion hasn't gone as planned.

The regiment's commanding officer, Col Sergei Sukharev, was killed in Ukraine on 13 March - a major blow for any military unit.

His deputy Major Sergei Krylov was killed alongside him.

..While the Kremlin has not been forthcoming when it comes to announcing the deaths of its men in Ukraine, Russians have been posting tributes to fallen soldiers on social media site V'Kontakte.

One has been set up Sergeant Sergei Duganov, a member of the 331st.

"Nobody knows anything," one woman wrote on it, the BBC reported.

"The 331st regiment is disappearing. Almost every day, photos of our Kostroma boys get published. It sends shivers down my spine. What's happening? When will this end? When will people stop dying?"

The unit was effectively wiped out, with the commanding officer and his second in command dead. Between 200 and 400 men died when either one or two planes carrying soldiers to the airport were shot down out of the sky. There were also heavy losses on the ground, as Ukrainians fought to retake the airport.

Who sends their elite formations into a feint, I wonder? Especially if that feint is so ill prepared the entire elite unit loses combat effectiveness and needs to be reconstituted? Who uses paratroopers to hold ground anyway, they’re notoriously bad at it.

Best of the best is obviously very relative. Proibably killed by bubushkas hurling jars of pickles.

If the goal of the Kyiv operation was to keep Ukrainian forces tied up so the rest of the Russian forces could take Donbas, then…

WHY HAVEN’T RUSSIAN FORCES TAKEN DONBAS?

Now they’ve announced they want to take Donbas and are withdrawing from north Ukraine. Problem is, the Ukrainian foces from Kyiv can also then move to defend Donbas. In fact, Ukrainian forces have a shorter distance to travel.

So the best case interpretation of this situation is that the Russian operation was still a failure, since Donbas is holding despite the “diversion”.

Russian bandits are replacing their chest armor plates with stolen laptop computers. That’s sure to reduce life expectancy. LOL.

The Russians have already stolen most of the Donbas. They’ll take a few more villages and claim victory.

The whole action doesn’t make sense to me. I’m seeing single tanks. I can’t imagine that you would send one tank into a neighborhood without any support. Plus the fact that they were sitting defenseless along the road waiting. The whole thing sounds like the Russians have a terrible army. The worse is when they aren’t effective their military leaders ie colonel generals will be closer to the front line and vulnersble

If any of the “news” coming out of Ukraine is to be believed, they must be total badasses. And we feared the USSR all those years!

(Note that I don’t believe ANY of it)

There was an interesting article the other day( might have been livestream) on the non-stop MI6 propoganda spewing from England. They publish 90% of these article, so enjoy the ride if you have bit hard because there is nothing subtle about the folks who brought you the comical Steele Dossier

Actually, the Steele Dossier sourcing came from the Clinton campaign and their contacts in Putinist Russia.
