He hasn’t posted anything in a few days though so I’m a little worried about him.

BTW I just watched “Donbass: 8 Year War,” a documentary on YouTube by a French journalist, and I was appalled at the way ppl in the DPR were treated by their own government from 2014 until today. The war now is a continuation and escalation of the daily assault ppl lived through in eastern Ukraine for 8 years, and it is truly unacceptable. Ukraine needs to be held accountable for this.

Seems Churchill was silent about the festering problem and may have encouraged it....

Ukraine needs to solve its own problems.

The PEOPLE of Ukraine need to solve their own problems.

However their people are mistreated doesn’t give foreign countries permission to INVADE a sovereign nation.

By all means, but not by the likes of Putin. Once he’s gone, there can be a true reckoning.

The problems in Eastern Europe were long underway before Churchill was born. He had opposed a D-Day invasion from across the channel, in favor of a Mediterranean invasion that was already underway prior to D-Day, because he suspect Stalin would not allow free and fair elections, and instead would hold onto everything he could grab. In the end, when the Mediterranean strategy proved untenable due to a pass that could not be breached, he reluctantly consented to English Channel invasion, loosely an extension of his Galipoli plan but without Lord Kitchener’s arrogant incompetence, learning from Galipoli.

Ukraine itself is now a patchwork of incompetent stitching. Eastern Ukraine has a large section of it that used to be Poland. Stalin held onto it, and chased all the Poles out. Western Ukraine is scarred by the Collectivization program in which 3-4 million Ukrainians were systematically starved to death. Stalin sent Jewish Party members to do the dirty work, which is why there was such a huge anti-Semitic backlash that the Germans exploited. Crimea used to be the traditional home of Tartars. Once again, Stalin forcibly removed them. Later Kruschev gifted it to the Ukraine Republic.

For that and many other reasons, Ukraine is a cluster f@#$ from the get-go. Let Dumbass go to Russia or stay in Ukraine. It’s none of our business. But you have warring militants on both sides trying to terrorize the population that they don’t like into leaving. Putin is exploiting this rift, and trying to create a rationale for his wholesale invasion based on it. What’s needed is a strictly Ukrainian adult to knock the kids’ heads together and telling the to STFU and behave, and then turn around and drive the clown car of state. If not VZ, then whoever comes next after him. But certainly not CatherPutin the Grate and his Keystone Globocops.

What, the unemployed Texas landscaper who grifted over to Donbas with a GoFundMe account and a GoPro?

Looks like he went from travelling with the Russian troops at the invasion to focusing on refugees in Mariupol. Think about how that looks.

He was with the Russian army and Donbas partisans at the invasion. Everybody friends. As fortunes soured for the Russians he turned to basically hiding among civilians and running civilian “evacuation operations” using his tenuous connections with Russians and separatist paramilitaries. Very risky but it keeps him up to date on current evacuation routes and exits.

My guess is he’s gotten a very good education at this time. The wisdom you get being around the Russian military is to not be around the Russian military.

It’s a long, disturbing video. I’m taking it in ten minute increments. The first few minutes are very revealing. It has former President Poroshenko, the one that Brandon was shaking down to fire the prosecutor, calling for the destruction of separatist civilians. This makes him even more of a criminal than he was just over the corruption.

In terms of context, later in the video women attest that in the village of Communar there were separatists fighting the Ukraine government, and at that time, Putin had just made moves on Crimea. As early as 2013, there was an attempt to ban public speaking in Russian, and a trade union that had speakers in Russian were shut into a building and it was set on fire by militant Ukrainians, and the central government did nothing about this.

My old history teacher, who came from Eastern Europe, told me that the pictures that children draw of people they are angry at, with spears stuck through them, arrows shot at them, limbs severed, were very frightening to him, because he had seen the very same thing actually done during border wars. Local enmities, especially in that part of the world, erupt into pure savagery.

I think he was a Croat, but he had fought on every side, including German, as well as being taken prisoner during WW II, whereupon he would switch sides, and somehow he survived to teach me history.

He was history, just as my maternal grandmother was, who remembered starving during the First World War, smuggling cigarettes for sale on the black market to survive, and the crossing from Europe to the US during the 1920s, working in sweat shops and speaking no English.

But I digress. So far my hypothesis is borne out. This is a sectarian war, with nobody being right. What’s shocking, however, is that Poroshenko unabashedly sided with the one side over the other, and called for criminal violence against civilians. Very un-presidential.
