Desperate Putin calls on Dad's Army: Russian officials ask troops who retired in 2012 to return to the frontlines amid mounting losses from disastrous invasion of Ukraine, MoD reveals

The Russian army's losses are so high the Kremlin has resorted to recruiting soldiers that have been retired for a decade.

At least 15,000 Russian troops have been killed in Ukraine, with a total 40,000 wounded, dead or captured since Putin's invasion began on February 24.

Intelligence from Britain's Ministry of Defence said Ukraine has killed so many of Putin's soldiers that Moscow is scrambling for extra troops.

The Kremlin has even started to recruit from Russian-occupied Transnistria, in Moldova.

Britain's Ministry of Defence said: 'In response to mounting losses, the Russian armed forces seek to bolster troop numbers with personnel discharged from military service since 2012.

'Efforts to generate more fighting power also include trying to recruit from the unrecognised Transnistria region of Moldova.'

If this were ‘true’ (I have my doubts), then getting these folks to rejoin, show-up, get uniformed, and to be in position? You’d be talking about three weeks. I would assume that alcoholism-wise...these are all people with a problem, and their value might be marginal.

An off-subject, but wasn’t there a military pension cut back in 2017 for the Russian army?

NOTE - official NATO numbers are 7000 - 15,000 killed, article is going with the higher number

Russia lost 14,500 troops in the Afghan War, but that was over 10 years

but to lose 7-15,000 in just 6 weeks is staggering!

Russian army is in disarray. There is practically a break in the fighting going on for few days already. Just shelling the other positions.
It may take a while, until Russians rebuild their military. Some estimate like about a month.
It would be a great time to attack them right now!
But the Ukrainians also need to rebuild and rearm!
They need more supplies!

Have a retired military friend who had studied the Russian war in Afghanistan back in the 70’s/80’s say he was not surprised by the Russians poor performance in Ukraine. He said that post-WW II, the Soviet (and later the Russian military) was always a paper tiger. The problem, he said, is the same problem that all Russian bureaucracy has, rampant, ingrained corruption. He said when he was studying them, there were entire divisions and weapons systems that essentially only existed on paper, the state would send money for upkeep and purchase of new weapons and the people in charge would essentially just pocket the money or purchase the weapons and then turn around and sell them on the black market. There was rampant lying on readiness reports, basically the officers would say, “We are at 100% readiness!” When in reality they had sold all their guns and ammo and weren’t even feeding their troops on a regular basis.”

These “Russia is losing” articles are always from the Daily Mail.

Here’s another headline from them today: “’Aloha’: Barefoot Kim Kardashian shows off her chiselled abs in a skimpy pink silk bra and matching shorts set in Hawaii”

Great trusted source./s

When you add total casualties, although not really known, the total can easily exceed 50,000 killed, wounded , captured, deserted.

Then there is the equipment needed to assault. Armor and vehicles have been severely depleted and are not replaceable form retired reserves.

With the large commitments and actual supply from Europe of advanced weaponry, it’s not a good time to be a Russian general

Any article that starts with “Desperate” isn’t objective news...

It’s an opinion piece - or propaganda.

If that is true it baffles me why Putin is even still alive. I would think that by now they would say enough is enough and take him out especially since so many Russians have relatives living in the Ukraine.

“The Russian army’s losses are so high”

Is the Russian military so weak that other countries might get the idea to invade Russia, or other Russian satellites might decide to fight for their independence?

He said that post-WW II, the Soviet (and later the Russian military) was always a paper tiger.

I don't doubt it at all, and have also been saying this for a long time. Especially after Afghanistan, and seeing the performance of Soviet equipment in Desert Storm. It's essentially third world equipment.

But this also means the Military Industrial Complex here has been lying about Russia's capabilities, to the people AND the politicians, for a long time. Not surprising, after seeing the compilation videos of them lying to congress for decades about the current capabilities of the Afghan army. It's all about money.

This is the bizarre world you WEFCons have forced yourselves to live in. Why not make it 100,000? Why not a million? If you're just gonna make sht up, why not go big?

Love how those who always say any article showing Russia losing is “propaganda”,

but then can never explain why Russia is retreating ...

The problem is the Biden occupation most likely is compromised, paid off by the Russians to look the other way and as a result we could very well miss the opportunity to nip this in the bud early before it gets worse, spreads and ends up turning into WW3.

And if that isn’t bad enough, the Biden occupation is probably bought off by China as well and probably has a financial stake in Iran. They couldn’t have picked a worse person at the worst time to be President, millions could end up dead because of this bastard.
