Democrat Joe Manchin says Americans deserve to know 'the truth' of who is to blame for skyrocketing prices and tears into Biden

West Virginia Democrat Senator Joe Manchin is blasting the Biden administration for responding to record-high inflation with 'half-measures and rhetorical failures' after the Labor Department revealed Tuesday that the average price of consumer goods hit a 41-year high.

He said Americans deserved to know 'the truth' of what fueled a staggering 8.5 percent inflation rate in March from the year prior -- a price hike he likened to a new 'tax.'

'Let me be clear, inflation is a tax and today’s historic inflation data tells another chilling story about how these taxes on Americans are completely out of control,'

'Hard earned wages and financial savings are disappearing faster every month as prices continue to climb, while the pain and frustration of spending more on everyday items lingers over us all, especially among those who can afford it the least.'

The new data show Americans are being hit hardest at the pump, with the price of gasoline soaring by 49 percent.

Tuesday's inflation report is the first to capture the full picture of Vladimir Putin's impact on the U.S. economy after he ordered his brutal attack on February 24.

President Joe Biden frequently points out the Russian autocrat's role in Americans' financial hardship, dubbing it 'Putin's price hike.'

Manchin appears to allude to the blame-shifting in his statement, claiming it is 'a disservice to the American people to act as if inflation is a new phenomenon.'

He also takes aim at the Federal Reserve

'The American people deserve the truth about why record inflation is happening and what must be done to control it.'

The southern Democrat whose family owns a coal business in his home state of West Virginia argued that such incentives would help spur the shift from fossil fuels to green energy.

Yes, it was the best time to buy utility stocks. When FED chair Volcker killed the inflation with high interest rates, my utility stocks tripled, and they were still paying 12-14% interest on my original cost.

Yes!
I am in Morgantown WV and I know people who know Manchin. He wants to run for presidnet. He thinks he can repeat the 1992 Slick Willy strategy, that of being the “reasonable” middle ground between the two left & right extremes that people will flock to. He has to do these constant zig-zags between the hard core Rat left to maintain his boni fides as a Rat and the right (to stay in a WV-wide office!) and maintain his reputation as a “moderate”.

I think he’s delusional. Its not 1992, the voting demographic is very very different now. If normal circumstances prevail he won’t get the nomination. If someting wierd happens with Biden 25th amendment-wise & Harris is given an Agnew! He will be convinced he has an in! I still think he’s delusional!

If you have a delusion, might as well have a big won!

Oh yes, the one Jimmy Carter called "Brezhnev's Price Hike."

Manchin will 76 in 2024, maybe he can out dementia Biden by then. Democrats are caught between old and Alzheimer’s and young and batsh*t crazy. There’s no sanity in the party. Manchin is saner than most DemWits (that’s not saying much), but is too damn old like Joe and Nancy.

I know who it was.

While filling up my truck this morning at local Walmart there was a sticker by the total price window with Biden's picture on it and it read "I did this".

Finally a politician takes responsibility for his actions. What a relief!

Agree! But he doesn't!

That's why he figures this is his last shot. It would be too long a row to hoe to switch and try as a GOP’er, that's why he stays a Rat.

The question is, if Plan A (be Prez!) fails which it will unless something weird happens!. What's Plan B?

Most people here say Plan B is be the new Byrd. Unfortunately WV'ians like their government cheese and are fine with that.
