California is odd...just stay with me here...in that depending on which county you live in determines if you can get a concealed carry permit. Fresno county has granted over 7500 out of a population of 950,000, Shasta county has 5900 out of a population of 180,000. But L.A. county with a population of over 10,000,000 has 560 legal concealed carriers. And then there’s the City & County of San Francisco which has granted 2 for a population of over 850,000.

Obviously the safest places in CA are SF & LA counties.

Obviously.....In all serious, California really is 2 states and it needs to be divided in 2. LA and San Fran along the coast, a liberal bastion. Rural has millions of conservatives sane rational reasonable patriots.

Another interesting tidbit is that a CCW license is good state-wide. So if you maintain a residence in a rural county and the sheriff is liberal about issuance, then you have a license that's also good for you carrying in LA and SF.

At one point there was an issue where rural sheriffs would issue a license to non-residents who applied there, but California closed that loophole.
