This happens way more often than reported.
And, it is one of the few things that can get you dismissed from government service.

There was a crooked cop in my old hometown who used to work side hustles as a security guard while on the clock for the department.

He was a loud mouth ‘everything’s racist’ Sargent who ~supposedly~ had dirt on some city councilmen and nothing came of it.

Also, the guy ran a non-profit shelter for hookers. His police car would be there at 11:30 at night.
