Turkey has launched a new ground and air cross-border offensive against Kurdish militants in northern Iraq, that has left at least 19 suspected Kurdish rebels dead and has wounded at least four Turkish soldiers, Turkey’s defense minister said Monday.
Turkish jets and artillery struck suspected targets of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party, or PKK, and commando troops — supported by helicopters and drones — then crossed into the region by land or were airlifted by helicopters, Defense Minister Hulusi Akar said in a video posted on the ministry’s website.
Akar said the jets successfully struck shelters, bunkers, caves, tunnels, ammunition depots and headquarters belonging to the PKK. The group maintains bases in northern Iraq and has used the territory for attacks on Turkey.

An opportunity created by the international mess to score some internal political points. It’s the vacuum in whatever moral order there was caused by the crack up of the globalist juggernaut. It’s Mearshiemer’s thesis that sooner or later nations and cultures are going to dominate the debate.
Is there a Kurd flag I could post on all my social media accounts to demonstrate my superior virtue? You know, like the Uke flaggots do.
Funny you don’t hear much about Kurd terrorism in Turkey
Kurds have never been “the good guys,” just an ally of convenience in Iraq. Kurdish terrorism in Turkey has been a problem since long before any of us were born.
A brilliant man.
How many freaking wars are going on right now? This tracks back to Bush 41. Had he gone to rid the world of Saddam after Saddam had actually done something egregious it is likely much of our present mess would not have happened.
Some years back I was having Verizon Fios put in. It turned complicated and the installer had a big job. We invited him to eat with us. In our conversations he said he’d been a Marine in Desert Storm. His tour was up after the fighting and his Company C.O tried to have him read. He said no because he was sure he’d have yo come back because the pols had left the job undone. He was correct.
You’ve never met the Kurds. I have and they’re pretty nice folks. Probably the most pro-Western Muslims in the whole sandbox.
There are Christian Kurds too.
A lot of Kurds took security jobs in Baghdad during the crazy days. I found them to be cheerful, easygoing and hardworking.
“Militants”
They must be the bad guys, right?

Why do all the Young Putineers go directly to homosexual reference. Obsess much?
Turks are very friendly as well. As a matter of fact, Turkey is in my top 3 in terms of friendliness of countries I have visited (despite the overall crappyness of their governments over the years). Have met Kurds in the US who seemed like nice folks. Nevertheless, Kurdish terrorism is a very real thing that has cost the lives of thousands over the years.
I haven’t had any experience with the Turks so thanks for your perspective.
Where are Free Republic’s neocons in the face of this ongoing atrocity?
They have an opportunity here to bring Iraq back into vogue.
Are we now obligated to go over and protect Iraq’s borders from a NATO member cross border invasion? I’m not in the GloboHomo club so these things have to be explained. I’d like to see how this spins out because the latest lessons proclaim that there is NO excuse for cross border invasions. none. The ‘gaslight’ is now lit.

Go into the truly rural areas of Turkey, and you will be back in the 14th century - not friendly, and as a non-muslim, you are fair game to rob. You are also subject to being killed, if the locals think they can get away with it.
