Gyanchand Parakh is the Bharatiya Janata Party MLA from Pali, Rajasthan. During a recent discussion on the finance bill in the state assembly, Parakh compared Prime Minister Narendra Damodardas Modi to Lord Shiva.
Modi, Parakh declared, is an incarnation of Lord Shiva.
"It came to me in a vision. I saw him as Lord Shiva," Gyanchand Parakh tells Rediff.com's A Ganesh Nadar.
You described Prime Minister Modi as an incarnation of Lord Shiva. Why?
I suddenly realised it. It came to me as a vision. Seeing his work, I said this. The surgical strikes... he has wiped out terrorism in Kashmir. The Ram mandir is being built in his time.
See the improvements he has done to the Kashi Vishwanath temple and the surroundings there.
Nobody has done that before this. He has divine power.
We are respected all over the world because of the way he handled the pandemic.
People stayed at home when he announced the lockdown. In other countries they were protesting.
In our culture we say our parents are God. For our future, safety is in the hands of Modi.
Aren't you going overboard? What is the need for such praise?
In 1971 after the war, Indira Gandhi divided Pakistan into two. Atal Bihari Vajpayee said she was Ma Durga. You did not call that sycophancy.
The Congress talks badly about Modiji, so I told them that he is Lord Shiva. He is not the prime minister of the BJP, he is the prime minister of 135 crore Indians.
Do you realise that you are comparing a grihasti like Lord Shiva to Modi, who has renounced family life?
Lord Hanuman is an avatar of Lord Shiva, he was a brahmachari. (A Ganesh Nadar's note: I told him Lord Hanuman is considered an avatar of Lord Narayan, but Mr Parakh did not agree.)
Lord Shiva drank poison to save the people. (when Lord Shiva drank the poison which came out of the ocean when the asuras and devas stirred it together).
Modiji has also drunk poison, I mean all the criticism that people have leveled against him.
So if Modi is Lord Shiva, what does it make Amit Shah?

Using the Lord Shiva analogy, how will you describe Ajit Kumar Doval, the NSA, for instance? Rajnath Singh? Nirmala Sitharaman?
They all belong to Lord Shiva. They are all in Shiva's army. They all work for him.

When he opened his third eye, terrorism was wiped out in Kashmir. The surgical strikes happened.
Lord Shiva, among the trinity of Hindu gods, is known as the destroyer.
Lord Shiva destroys Evil, not the Earth. He saved the people and the earth by drinking the poison that came out of the ocean.
He was Dev before that, after he drank the poison he became Mahadev.
Will Shiv bhakts be upset that you have compared a mortal to their favorite deity?
In our culture, parents are Gods, pati is parameshwar. Here Bacha bacha Ram hai, so they will not be angry.
How do you think Modi will react if he hears you have compared him to Lord Shiva?
I do not know what he will say.
You are grossly mis-informed. Hindu religion is the most peaceful in the world. Hindu warriors never invaded any foreign country. Not only that unlike Christians who believe only way to heaven is through Christianity, Hindu’s are much more tolerant of other religions. Buddha was born in India. There are more Muslims in India than most other countries. Other religions such as Jains, Sikhs, Zoroastrians, Bahai’s, Christians, Buddhists, and a few more live in India in very large numbers.
Modi has strange bed fellows.

But like any other religion, Hindus are not as uniform;y benevolent as you say. There are Hindu attacks on Christians, Sikhs, and other groups.
I suppose by that logic that any country should be able to persecute, harass, dispossess, murder, deprive of services and resources -- based on their being persuaded of another religion.

LOL I grew up in India until age 20, has several Christian friends and I never attacked anyone. We all were good friends. In USA, I married a Christian woman. I am a typical Hindu, non-violent and tolerant of others.

I would advize everybody not to ridicule that which you do not understand.
In Hinduism the spirit bodies of the gods are able incarnate as human beings. This may be outside of the theology of most Christians , but the fact is that this view is engrained in India’s society.
And what is written in this article is the highest form of praise, but the down side is that it is generally not understood by most of the rest of the world.And so it results in ridicle.
India has one foot in the modern world and the other in another world which comes from ancient times. There are two major paradigms.And the suprising thing is that these two paradims manage to co exist quite well.
Your brain is not well structured in statistics. There are 1100 Million Hindus’s in India. If 0.001% of them are haters, that amounts to 11,000 haters. That is a lot of haters but still only 0.001% small minority of the Hindu population.
Note that Gandhi was assassinated by a Hindu extremist. And then 99.999% of Hindu’s went into dep mourning.
Only a fool would expect 1100,000,000 people to all be 100% benevolent. There are always exceptions. Guys who killed Abraham Lincoln, John Fitzgerald Kennedy, Martin Luther King do not represent overwhelming white Americans. They wer exceptions.
So why you expect 100% of Hindu’s to love all other religions?
Your brain seems to be well-structured in arrogance and not much else. Your arguments completely skirt the issue I posited which is that Modi condones violence vs Christians and that since he came into power, Christians have been put to the worse.
Nowhere is your arrogance more on display than when in a previous post you queried: “Why should India allow other religions to invade” (not true) “and proselytize” (any religion worth having is worth sharing, isn’t it?). My other response to that arrogant question is that freedom of religion is a basic human right.
As to your “.001% haters”, what hole did you pull that out of?
