House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy escaped the wrath of former President Donald Trump after the California Republican was caught on tape stating he planned to ask Trump to resign following the Jan. 6 riots — but that doesn't mean the saga is over for him yet.
On Monday, McCarthy visited the southern border with other Republican lawmakers, and did a brief interview with Fox News national correspondent Bill Melugin. Melugin asked McCarthy about the leaked tape, as well as the lawmaker's assertion that reporting done by New York Times political correspondents was "totally false."
"I never told the president to resign, it was a conversation that we had about scenarios going forward," McCarthy said. "But that's not really critical... What's happening is what's happening on this border right now."

The GOP may run this guy for president.
The Democrats may use massive fraud to make this guy the next Republican president.
He may be a Republican who governs left of Valerie Jarrett.
Voters play no part in any of this.
Maybe DJT is becoming a politician, and rather than torching McCarthy to his face, he’s maneuvering behind the scenes. Whatever it takes to lose this RINO, I’m for.

The biggest mistake Trump ever made was not quitting the Uniparty (R) the day after McConnell and McCarthy ran him out of town on a rail. An honest representative of conservative Americans cannot work with that nest of DC vipers without having his back turned into a pin cushion for GOP daggers.

Right! There has to be a clear and unqualified distinction between the establishment GOP and Conservatives in the US.
I have met and known ‘Republicans” with some VERY liberal views and who are just too cowardly to call themselves Liberals. They’re hiding out in the GOP...and they vote Liberal on many issues.
I have not regarded myself as a ‘Republican’ for a very long time.
I can see DJT letting this guy squirm for awhile, then lowering the boom.

Bill Melugin did a fine job with that interview. He stayed with him while Luntz’ roommate kept trying to change the question.
These people are soooo smart....they never learn.
You can recover from many sins if you own it immediately. Rip it off like a bandaid and move on.....trying to cover it up is what will hang you every time.
Know this knucklehead has the initial transgression AND got caught lying.
Limited sympathy however.......never had much faith in this guy anyway.

Like it or not, about half the voters are going to blindly vote along party lines, regardless of who the nominee is.
Quitting the Republican party means you give up those blind party voters, and throw the race to the Democrat.
Get him out. Fake. Except he is right about the border. Does any reporter even ask biden about the border. I saw them ask one time and he got angry and said they are working on it. The media is as much to blame about all of this as biden. Hammer them with questions and report it day and night. All biden needed to do was leave the policy the same. He wants this nation flooded with illegals and drugs and thugs. Once he is gone we will spend trillions rounding them up. He is leaving a mess. Whom ever is up next will for sure look better than biden. Maybe thats the plan. Steal the midterms and 2024. Put another dem in office and he starts cleaning it up.
