CORTES: Vance’s Victory Over Ukraine Warmongers is an America First Foreign Policy Win.
The National Pulse ^ | 5/4/22 | STEVE CORTES

Posted on 05/05/2022 8:33:51 AM PDT by JonPreston

JD Vance’s primary win in Ohio represents a fulcrum moment for the America First movement, because it validates that a populist nationalist approach to foreign policy can prove decisive with 2022 voters. In fact, Vance’s insistence that America reverse course and de-escalate the crisis in Ukraine provided the most crucial policy differentiator against his opponents.

Vance referred to Rove as a scumbag on Tucker last night.

Well the bolded language is a complete crock. First, I'm in Ohio, and Vance's opposition to aid for Ukraine was not something that was widely known. It certainly wasn't publicized in his ads, and I only found out about it after digging into the candidates online.

Second, even if it was well-known, that would be absolutely no different from AOC and her crowd pointing to a progressive winning a plurality in a primary as evidence that the general electorate wants progressivism. We'd all mock her mercilessly for that, while thanking her for nominating a candidate that cannot win the general election.

Vance was the only GOP candidate in the race to oppose aid to Ukraine, and he managed only 32% of the GOP vote. It is ridiculous to draw from that the conclusion that opposition to Ukraine support is actually popular with voters overall in Ohio. In fact, if Vance loses the general election, I'll bet that will be one of the two major issues cited by swing voters who end up voting for the Democrat Ryan.

It only took four posts to get a response.

I saw the attack ad on Vance trying to tie him to Putin, and whip up the Ukranian vote, by an organization I had never heard of.

Also saw the attack ad from Club for Growth (obviously in support of Mandel--I have nothing against Mandel, but Club for Growth should send a red flag since they were imho opposed to what Trump was doing re: tariffs etc.)

As much as I dislike Vance for not supporting the GOP nominee in 2016, and for his stance on Ukraine, I'll still vote for him in November simply because any Democrat is worse. Same reason I'll vote for that idiot cyclops DeWine even though I can't stand what he did with Covid.

99 times out of 100, a bad Republican is still better than a "good" Democrat.

I'll still vote for him

I'm actually very glad to hear that, and as an independent my usual default it to a Republican for the same reason.
