Is this a joke? A couple weeks ago I heard a podcast from an American caught in the Shanghai Lockdown, and he claimed some people are starving to death. If you ask me, Xi Jinping has jumped the shark, to fight a disease that currently is killing almost nobody.
For the most part, citizens are unruffled, confident that the restrictions that have paralyzed Shanghai for six weeks are simply unthinkable in the capital.

In a prison camp society like China, polls are useless, and you stay “unruffled” — or else.
The angle they present this in, makes you think of Shanghai
right off. It cleverly dodges that though, talking about
the populace of Beijing.
I doubt the people in the capital would be very happy to
have the Shanghai treatment. On the other hand, are they
able to tell what has been going on in Shanghai?
Not sure how well the government can block information that
would be extremely negative to them.
