Apple workers storm barriers and fight guards keeping them locked at work

Staff at a technology factory in China have revolted over strict coronavirus measures.

Workers stormed barriers and fought with security staff during a dramatic riot on Thursday.

The Quanta factory, in the Songjiang district of Shanghai, makes devices such as MacBook Pros.

Footage from Thursday shows how helpless guards, clad in protective white gowns, tried in vain to catch workers who jumped over barriers.

The factory had been operating under strict government-mandated isolation rules.

Bloomberg report that a ‘closed loop’ system meant staff were required to sleep at nearby accommodation instead of at home.

Some had been trying to return to their dormitories to rest when they were denied exit from the factory, and chaos soon followed.

If this Apple had a real ‘core’ they would decide not to do business with any country that imprisons it’s citizens at their workplaces. That’s not going to happen.
Even Steve Jobs was known to ignore ‘sweat shops’ formed in foreign lands to assemble his company’s products.

Going to be very difficult for China to invade Taiwan. If Russia can’t win in Ukraine, what chance does China have against Taiwan.

Russia’s logistical train has been a nightmare. China’s would be much worse. China invasion fleet would be lucky to make it 20 miles out of their ports. Might not even make it out of port.

Taiwan has robust air defense systems and many countries pledging to defend them.

It may be that the Chinese military would refuse to invade Taiwan. Xi Jinping is on very shaky ground.

China has made some very serious mistakes.

They pull this nonsense once too often, and there are so
many other places where our goods can be manufactured.

Companies will flee China as quickly as they amassed there.

There are some updated conversations regarding the sampan civilian navy internal migration approach.

https://freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3979585/posts

https://freerepublic.com/focus/f-bloggers/4002096/posts?page=58#58

The chinese will send a sampan navy with 10million “internal migration” civilians armed with CNN uplinks, cameras, and bullhorns. When they get mowed down by our side, the resulting negative PR will be amplified by the chinese knocking out 2 of our aircraft carriers in the blockade with their hypersonic ICBM thermally guided antiship missiles.
America will luze stomach for the fight over what it already calls an internal province of China. Taiwan has never declared independence.
About a third of civilians in Taiwan are ethnic Chinese and maybe only half of them have loyalties and fifth column tendencies towards communist China. They have hundreds of thousands of cargo ships they can fill with civilians armed with cameras, CNN uplinks, and bullhorns.
The resultant slaughter will be live on CNN and the PR backlash will be enough to let China walk right back into their own internal (never did declare independence) province. If we blockade them, they’ll lob thermal-capable antiship ICBM missiles at our aircraft carriers and CNN will record them sinking to the bottom of the sea with the resultant nuclear plume.
America will luze stomach for the fight after luzing a couple $Trillion in carriers and tens of thousands of men in one afternoon, all seen on CNN, with our recourse being... to slaughter civilians. China has all the cards, they just have to lay them down on the table at this point.
And when it’s all over but the shouting, the RINOs and GOPes and democraps will be handwringing, hoping for a quick way to order chinese chips & electronics from Amazon. The chinese want the continued business of globalists so it’ll all be “can’t we just get along” and “water under the bridge” as soon as China is in charge and chips are shipping.

I’ve been posting that for many years, long before Jen came & went. Noticeably, you do not argue any logical points.

“And when it’s all over but the shouting, the RINOs and GOPes and democraps will be handwringing, hoping for a quick way to order chinese chips & electronics from Amazon.”

From 1865 to 1900 the United States went from a nation in economic shambles, due to a four year Civil War, to the largest industrial power on the planet. During that 35 year period, the US had the highest tariffs in its history in order to facilitate the development of domestic manufacturing supply chains.

From 1900 to about 1990 the US sustained its manufacturing and innovation leadership with domestic integrated supply chains making the country self sufficient in manufacturing from raw materials to component production to final assembly. Thanks to its world leading industrial base US factories were able to supply the domestic economy as well as the military weapons and supplies to conduct and a major war on a global scale in the 1940’s.

From 1990 to today the US government and business community has followed “free trade” economic and diplomatic policies which have outsourced much of the country’s manufacturing and ended its industrial self sufficiency. Supply chains are no longer domestic, they are integrated across the globe and would take decades to reconstruct domestically. In the event of a war with China, the destruction of the U.S. Navy by Chinese missiles, submarines, and drones would leave us unable to supply domestic assembly operations with components and unable to produce most military equipment, not to mention manufactured consumer goods.

The current domestic green energy policies are only making the situation worse. Domestic fossil fuel self sufficiency is being dismantled, and replaced with unreliable renewable energy sources. A reconstruction of the U.S. industrial base is not possible without inexpensive and reliable domestic energy.

The United States lacks the industrial capability to fight World War II today, much less a modern war against a foreign power with vertical domestic manufacturing supply chains

Today our stockpiles of basic and advanced military weapons are being sent to Ukraine where they are being consumed in a proxy war against Russia or siphoned off into the global black market. Defense contractors quote lead times of three years to replace some of the advanced weapons. China is standing by smiling as our military’s supplies are consumed in Ukraine, knowing it will take years for them to be replaced. If at some future date China boycotts the US, many parts to replace weapons will not be available. Plus the consumer economy will come to a halt without imported manufactured goods.

Self sufficiency is critical for survival in protracted wars. Outsourcing our domestic supply chains, while was China developing them, was a suicidal policy. Giving up energy independence is another suicidal policy. Destroying our education system was the third.

China can defeat the U.S. today in a non nuclear war. It has deployed anti satellite weapons in space to take out our eyes in the sky and navigation satellites early in a conflict. Our aircraft carriers are sitting ducks for modern missile, drones and silent submarines. A military conflict with China will become nuclear quickly or will result in quick capitulation. Without domestic industrial self sufficiency we cannot fight a war of attrition in which we are cut off from Asian factories.

If a war goes nuclear, do we know the Chinese haven’t planned to neutralize our strategic nuclear force? Have our military information systems been compromised so hackers can shut down our launch systems on a moments notice. How many missiles and bombers contain computer components sourced fro China with hidden instructions which will be activated remotely? Can China jam our guidance and communication systems? Will our nuclear missiles even work if our military navigation satellites are gone and communications systems are severely hacked? Finally, if we are losing a non nuclear conflict will US leaders launch a nuclear strike first, knowing they will almost certainly die and the nation will be destroyed by the nuclear forces of China. Or, would the politicians negotiate a “peace” to save the nation from destruction and their own skins.? Would the current Woke military leadership even obey a first strike order from the president?

It is difficult to imagine the US going to war with China to protect Taiwan. We do not have the industrial capability to sustain a protracted conventional war with a strong industrial nation with nuclear weapons. A conventional war with China means destruction of our navy and an embargo of Asian manufactured goods. Our domestic economy will be crushed in six months from an embargo. The dollar will lose reserve currency status and an economic depression worse than the 1930’s will result.

Who will come to our aid? Certainly not Russia or Iran? The Europeans who have little military capability? Will they chose to support the US, China, or simply stay neutral? Asian countries will ally with China. Will the Saudi’s join China and embargo oil shipments to the U.S.? If Saudi Arabia, and the Arab world ally with China, what will Israel do?

Nations ultimately do what is in their own self interest. If the U.S. appears weak and vulnerable they will look to where they are best positioned for the future.
