PA GOP Primary: InsiderAdvantage Poll shows Oz leading tight race ahead of Barnette, McCormick

A new InsiderAdvantage/FOX 29 Philadelphia poll shows Dr. Mehmet Oz in the lead by a narrow margin in a tight race for the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate.

The poll, which surveyed 750 likely GOP Primary voters, shows just how tight the race is between the top three candidates.

Oz leads the race followed closely by Kathy Barnette, who moved into second place after the debate on April 25, according to InsiderAdvantage.

The poll puts Oz at 22.5% and Barnette at 20.9%, followed by Dave McCormick at 18.5%.

Candidates Jeff Bartos and Carla Sands are nearly tied at 4.9% and 4.7%, respectively, while George Bochetto and Sean Gale are tied at 1.3%.

According to the survey data, 25.9% are still undecided ahead of the May 17 primary.

InsiderAdvantage Chairman Matt Towery says the results signal a close race. "Mehmet Oz leads, with Kathy Barnette moving into second place following the most recent debate. Dave McCormick is in a very close third, with all three candidates being close to or within the poll’s margin of error," he said.

He says none of the top three candidates should be counted out.

"It remains to be seen if Barnette’s move into second place will have continued momentum. And McCormick has shown an ability to move votes with the sheer volume of his paid advertising," Towery said. "At this point, I would not write any of the three top candidates off."

Additionally, former President Donald Trump could have an effect on the election, according to Towery.

Citing a phenomenon titled the "Trump Bump," which he says played a role in the Ohio primary, accounted for between a 3% to 5% increase in support for JD Vance, who was endorsed by Trump.

According to InsiderAdvantage, Trump has a favorability rating higher than 70% among republicans in the state of Pennsylvania.

In April, Oz was endorsed by Trump and the Senate candidate could potentially see a wider gap between himself and Barnette.

The 25% of undecided voters can be attributed to voter turnout with the true undecided percentage being closer to 7%, but Towery says the undecided voters could still determine the winner.

"At this point it is fair to say that Oz leads the race, Barnette enjoys a shift in momentum, and that McCormick has the resources and a level of support to stage a comeback."

Looks like Trump’s endorsement may still carry the day here. Would be huge feather in his cap after Vance’s win in OH…

If you had followed Donald Trump when he was a private citizen/businessman, you would would have said the same thing when he ran.

I have a feeling you supported everyone of these candidates:
Roy Moore
Todd Akin
Ken Cuccinelli
Richard Mourdock
Christine O’Donnell
George Allen
Joe Miller
Ken Buck
Alan West
Sadly they all lost in general election.
Which is why Ronald Reagan’s words are so wise, paraphrasing, “I will vote for the republican most likely to win against the democrat”.

In PA I really do not know who has the best chance to defeat the democrat opponent. Because I am in far away Florida. But I am sure there are polls in PA showing which republican has best chance in general.

Trump was friend’s with Oprah, too. No biggie. This is the junk Jeb Bush Republicans threw at Trump in 2015.

Neither did Oz teach anyone to be tranny. It was for parents on how to deal with it years ago. He is a doctor and was doing a health show. Dave McCormick’s anti-trans campaign against Dr. Oz isn’t doing well, with McCormick slipping down into 3rd place in new polling. Come up with a new attack.

It’s amazing that Barnette is in second place, considering I haven’t seen a single TV ad for her.

We have been bombarded with Oz and McCormick ads—both for and against—for months.

Yup. Trump picks some conservatives. He also maintains the McConnell-Romney caucus.

This is why you have a republican caucus that colludes with the dems to block out conservatives.

If there is any hope of changing the republican caucus, they need to see that conservatives will remember.

Dollars can help with generating publicity, but dollars don’t go and vote. People do that. If she generated this much interest with so little money, imagine what she could have done if she had a decent budget.

My 2 cents:

When Oz said he was running I said HAIL no. I don’t trust that Oprah loving, liberal stuff spewing carpetbagger.

After MUCH consideration and a good bit of research (especially into Barnette) I truly think that Barnette is a really good person and a really good Conservative that is NOT ready for prime-time. The Senate is rarified air. She needs more seasoning, better coaching, better speaking skills and better financing.

McCormick has too many known negatives. Which leaves me with...Oz?

Well, I didn’t trust Trump at first, either. I did a full-on Mark Levin style conversion, though. More than a few people (including Trump) back Oz as a guy that did what he had to do in a career run by liberals and finally had enough.

What’s more, I believe he has a FAR better chance of winning the General election than Barnette.

All, of course, IMHO.

Well, this is an interesting list.

But, George Allen lost because of the manufactured outrage over that Macaca thing.

Joe Miller lost because even after winning the GOP primary against Murkowski, she ran a write in campaign as a sore loser and won.

Not sure either of these belongs on a list of GOP losers who should not have been the GOP candidates in their elections.
