Trump endorsement of Mastriano leaves Pennsylvania Republicans furious

MECHANICSBURG, PA— In picking a sure thing by endorsing state Sen. Doug Mastriano for governor in PA, former President Donald Trump has set off a chain of events that could cost Republicans the governor's office and ensure him a tough race in PA if he chooses to run for president.

Allegheny County Republican Party Chairman Sam DeMarco was stunned when the news hit social media: “I am very disappointed with the president's decision in picking Mastriano. It's not exactly going out on a limb supporting someone in the lead three days before the election; it does guarantee him one win in this state on Tuesday,” said DeMarco in an interview with the Washington Examiner.

Jackie Kulback, the head of the Cambria County Republican Party, a grassroots powerhouse who just recently took this post-industrial county from a Democratic-majority county to a Republican one, was furious at Trump’s decision to back Mastriano.

The president's endorsement of Mehmet Oz was very hard to understand to begin with; now we have a three-way, a very tight three-way race for the critical Pennsylvania Senate seat, and to most of us, it appears that Oz is beginning to fade. So, what does the president do? He's going to shore that up somehow and endorse a sure thing — it is very disappointing,” said Dave Ball.

Kulback said Trump’s interference in PA would be costly: “It will cost a very winnable governor's seat. Dave White or Lou Barletta could have easily beat Shapiro in the fall in a very good year for Republicans.”

The PA GOP establishment didn’t do squat about the 2020 election fraud either before or after the election. Convince me I am wrong.

Just because Trump has endorsed someone, doesn’t mean I’ll follow like a sheep.

I’m voting for Barnette and Barletta.

If things don’t work out, then I’ll likely vote for whoever makes it through, but I am VERY leery of Oz! He isn’t even a resident of PA and he’s WAY too slick and shifty!

>Dave White or Lou Barletta could have easily beat Shapiro

Shapiro was probably the one that orchestrated the voting fraud. He ended up, strangely, winning by much more than people expected.

Lou was the first in the House to endorse Trump and this is how he’s rewarded!

Are they “enraged” ? I love it when they get “enraged.”

I’m doing exactly what you’re doing. Why Trump picked these two is beyond me. Oz is a Democrat and Mastriano has no idea what he’s doing. I hate politics and politicians.

The problem is the Democrats have no one to build upon for 2024 and think they’re banking on Shapiro to be their man. The fix is in, the left will do whatever they have to, to get him in there. I think it’s almost guaranteed.

I don’t care about the Republicans in general, I care about our Patriots. How do they feel about Mastriano

and ensure him a tough race in PA if he chooses to run for president

Aside from the massive vote-rigging aided and abetted by the Assistant Democrats in Pennsylvania.

Perhaps those lying Democrat handmaidens should JUST STFU.

I don’t understand this story. He endorsed the one who was in the lead anyway so what is the problem?

I don’t care about “a very good year for Republicans”.

I care about a very good year for MAGA....ie for Populist/Nationalist candidates.

I’d rather see RINOs lose.

Mastriano has been all over the 2020 election fraud since day one.

Given Filthadelphia and Fixburgh, you’re probably correct.

The general tone in here is the assumption the election will be fair and honest. That’s good for a chuckle or two.

You are correct. This is not about winning for winning sake and these dirtbags quoted are the problem. Doug is a good man who was screwed by the State GOP. Burn it down. Let them try winning without Trump.

Millions like me are done with the GOPe game and the more they cry and lose, the better.

Read the story and the comments again and still don’t understand how they can be furious that he is endorsing the front runner who was likely to win anyway?
