WASHINGTON (AP) — Signs of Republican resistance are mounting over a $40 billion aid package to Ukraine, a reemergence of the Trump-led isolationist wing of the GOP that's coming at a crucial moment as the war against the Russian invasion deepens.
The Senate voted late Monday to advance the Ukraine aid bill 81-11, pushing it toward President Joe Biden's desk by week's end to become law. But more vocal objections from Republicans in Congress are sending warning signs after what has been rare and united support for Ukraine as it desperately battles hostile Russia. All 11 no votes came from Republican senators.
It comes as Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell led a delegation of GOP senators to visit the region over the weekend in a show of support, vowing to push past detractors, finish up the aid package and vote this summer on expanding NATO to welcome Sweden and Finland. The leader finds himself holding down the GOP's more traditional foreign policy approach, in direct confrontation with the GOP's "America First" flank, including Donald Trump, the former president.
“There’s always been isolationist voices in the Republican Party,” McConnell told reporters on a conference call over the weekend from Stockholm. “It won’t create a problem, we’ll get the job done."

EVERY Bush League Republican should be defeated, but Trump endorsing them is making it almost impossible.
This is BS, they already voted for closure. The dems don’t need the republicans to pass it now. All but the 11 that voted against closure, voted to pass borrowing $40B from china to give to Ukraine with no supervision. Objections now are nothing more then cover for their sorry ass vote.
They didn’t even put in the oversight that Rand Paul wanted. Just ship out the loot.

Oh hell yeah, I want to be ISOLATED from the invasion coming across our border, the McConnell's and Biden's, and mostly from the cowardly Neocons who send other kids to fight in illegal wars, while they sit at home. A total and complete ISOLATION from them suits me just fine.

If somebody can figure a way to delay this BS for another month, there is a good chance the Zelensky/Nazi government in Kiev will no longer be there and there won’t anybody there to hand the 40B over to.

Why should the US borrow money in order to give it away?
Those who oppose he Ukraine aid bill are NOT “isolationist”! They are sensible!!!!
The USA is ravaged by inflation, and cannot afford to have the government spend and spend!!
And until Ukraine negotiates, the war remains a bottomless pit in which any aid we send them is frittered away!!!! But it we stop sending them aid, the war can end rather quickly!
Oh they’ll still be there! Russia needs a government to negotiate with for an end to the war!!
But hopefully there will be fewer Nazis because of the Mariupol surrender!!
