What new law do they think will stop this?
Given we don’t even have a clear picture of what happened yet, what new law are they believe will have prevented this?
Show me the law you want to put forward and then explain to me EXACTLY how it would have prevented this....
That’s not the point of course, the point is to get a Knee Jerk Reaction and leverage it for something before cooler heads prevail.
The usual suspects have been bloviating about “common sense gun regulations”, but have been distinctly circumspect about whate, exactly they’re talking about.
They’re mumbling about “universal background checks” (read as a ban on private firearms sales), a ban on “high capacity magazines” (read standard capacity magazines) and other equally nonsensical and vague ideas.
What they would love to propose is a renewed federal ban on “assault weapons”, but this is a problem for them. On the one hand, their hard-core base, which used to uniformly love the idea is now divided. The suburban wine moms and Karens are still all in, but the Democrat party’s militant wing is no longer reliably anti-gun. On the other hand, this issue remains highly motivating to their dedicated opponents: they fear even worse retaliation in November.
