The intense rules for US Marines who protected mail from gangsters

Marines from both coasts were activated and armed with trench guns, M1911 pistols, and the M1903 Springfield rifle to stand watch as high-value mail deliveries were moved between institutions, large cities, banks, and government offices. They rode mail trucks and trains, often seated with the driver and in with the valuable cargo. The Navy Secretary told his new detachment of 50-plus Marines and officers:

“To the Men of the Mail Guard, you must when on guard duty, keep your weapons in hand and, if attacked, shoot and shoot to kill. If two Marines are covered by a robber, neither must put up his hands, but both must immediately go for their guns. One may die, but the other will get the robber, and the mail will get through. When our Corps goes in as guards over the mail, that mail must be delivered, or there must be a Marine dead at the post of duty. There can be no compromise.”

In the 1920s, a series of armed robberies of mail trucks and trains was stopped hard by deployment of armed US Marines with orders to attack any robber. The robberies ceased immediately. Do our children deserve any less safety?

This school shooting crap needs a hard response.

If I were a U.S. Marine, I would keep any gangster from receiving any mail. Instead, they would get free transportation to prison.

One idea that could work is to train and arm the teachers and admin staff. Make it a condition of employment, and any that balked fired.

The US Mail trucks\trains were federal entities. Do you really want the federal government exercising a potentially lethal authority at that level? That hard response if it’s to come at all should come from state\county\local LEO authorities. They’re not going to want to do it because a) No one will have their backs if something doesn’t go as planned & b) the ethnic demographics of the perps won’t be pleasing PR to the politicians who make hay on these things.

Most educators are women. Most do not even approach the level of training and aggression our fighting men do. They are steeped in the therapeutic model and blanche at the idea of shooting “a child”.
Educators are the problem, they must be removed from having any voice in the physical security of the school.

That must be left to people who charge towards the gunfire.
Two veterans walking a post is the answer till this crap stops. Marines and National Guard should be used. They did it after 9/11 at airports. They did it in Times Square. They did it at NFL games. Time to utterly cease this crap. And time that “professional educators” have no say in how that happens.

Yes I do. Fedzilla has no problem screwing with locals in hundreds of ways. Time they did something for America for once. And every school is rife with federal grants. There is an easy route for them to stop these school shootings.... if they cared.

And it would be nice if states did so. The larger point is that trained armed soldiers need to be walking the hall in a no nonsense manner. Instead they are 100 miles away welcoming migrants.

You let it in it will never leave and only grow into more “creative missions” inside schools!

With this administration it will quickly be enforcing ‘unisex’ bathroom rules, & pronoun use.

Marines don’t still guard the mails. Anyway, anything and everything in this society gets armed protection. Often aggressive armed protection, except for schools.

So invest in mops, buckets and bleach I guess.

The Marines told the Postal Department that they needed some of those new and very expensive Thompson Submachine guns to help guard the mail. The Post office purchased several dozen of the Tommyguns, which the Marines immediately took with them to use in Nicaragua for one of the Banana Wars. The post office never got them back.

Armed teachers would resolve the problem, too.

Yes, you’re right they don’t. Back then people were a little more circumspect about letting the regular military into local affairs.

Using the military worked so well at Waco, why not PS 212?

As a U S MARINE I have to tell you that free transportation to prison is out of the question!

Transportation, paid for by your family to the MORGUE is the ONLY OPTION!

Teachers are being deigned their 2nd Amendment rights, end the no guns in school policy and allow any teacher that desires to carry concealed and post a sign outside.
