When I was teaching in a small Catholic school about 10 years ago, a local officer came and talked with the teachers. He said in an active shooter situation, the police would be there in 2-3 minutes tops and that they would enter the building and dispatch the shooter. It was our job to have a plan to lock down and keep the shooter out of classrooms or otherwise minimize damage until police arrived. How hard can it be?
The evidence is mounting. The crazed shooter had lots of help from the authorities.
A bunch of damned cowards. Every one of them should be fired, stripped of their pensions, sued into bankruptcy, and then prosecuted for criminal malfeasance.

How many vets who are retired and have the time would volunteer their time to arm guard schools, one day a week would be enough to guard every school in the country with several guards. I would gladly do it.
Every single shooter in this regard has the singular stature of being the only one standing up and visible in the classroom. All the other classrooms - no one visible.
