As regards the question of REGENERATION OF UNDERGROUND PETROLEUM, I had heard Mr. Gold's (and others') arguments years ago and found them fascinating -- and plausible. I just did a search after seeing Larry's comment and found a trove of commentary on the topic at the link below. Please dig (or drill) into this yourself as you recall that Clan Rockefeller has had a very checkered - and self-serving - history. Given the relationships between BIG MONEY, BIG OIL and government and recent, ongoing national events, are we targets of yet another SCAM that has lasted over 150 years since Colonel Drake's 1859 first "gusher" in Titusville, Pennsylvania? https://duckduckgo.com/?t=ffab&q=is+regeneration+of+petroleum+in+the+earth+possible&atb=v217-1&ia=web
Calcium carbide is created by heating minerals with calcium and carbon. When combined with water, acetylene is produced. Under pressure, and in time, acetylene combines with itself to produce many complex organic molecules. This is obvious. Aluminum carbide, produced similarly, releases methane in contact with water. Other metal carbides produce methane and acetylene. Before life evolved, the environment was deeply gunked with hydrocarbons.
Rush used to talk about this.
To your question about Master “Fossil Fuel” Con Artist Rockefeller who also turned oil by-products into BigPharma $$$, yes, we been duped bigtime. Oil like primary water regenerate. Our Earth is a wonderfully designed system. Time to unlearn a lot of Big Lies- Question it all.
Clearly oil is made over time, but if you think it’ll be made in 1000 lifetimes to replenish wells, Rush was wrong.
Nuclear fission, solar, and working on fusion are the ways to go.
“As regards the question of REGENERATION OF UNDERGROUND PETROLEUM, I had heard Mr. Gold’s (and others’) arguments”
Who??
” I just did a search after seeing Larry’s comment”
What, what??
Dude, I know you want to tease your blog, but please introduce your characters at the very least.
It goes a long way toward explaining the difference between light, sweet crude and heavy, sour crude.
(It depends on the existing contaminants in the geologic trap the crude is found in.)
A quick google search turned up a bunch of references. Two that seemed interesting:
A scientific review of abiogenic theory in Reviews in Geophysics
Deep-seated abiogenic origin of petroleum: From geological assessment to physical theory
and a Forbes article from 2008 that mentions Thomas Gold by name and unnamed Russian and Ukrainian scientists that hold to the theory.
Endless Oil?
In a nutshell we find hydrocarbons in places we shouldn't based on a biomass theory.
I always liked John D Rockefeller Sr. Doesn't every businessman have a self-serving history?
Another is that while oil spills are bad, they are also temporary. This cleanup is slow, but the Earth is patient. Select bacteria thrive on the stuff, even deep underground. Almost as if they had evolved to use it as a permanent food source...
Drillers reopening old wells to dispose of salt water have found oil in assumed to be depleted fields.
It's always good to be aware that alternative theories of sources of petroleum exist. It's also good to be aware that alternative theories to the Leftist dogma taught by union teachers exist, as well. One such theory is that the Rockefeller's wealth came from developing cheaper methods of distributing petroleum fuels, so that it cost consumers less.
There are interesting theories about regeneration but as far as I know, none of them can explain where to search for such oil.
It doesn’t matter if oil is still being produced. What matters is if it’s being produced at a rate anywhere near the rate it’s being consumed.
“This cleanup is slow, but the Earth is patient.”
Heh - heh ... paraphrasing from one of my favorite movies “High Road to China”.
The “fossil fuel” crowd never explain just how all that carbon was on the surface in the first place, and what caused it to be drawn deep into the earth before it could re-incorporate into the atmosphere by normal processes.
Exactly. Why did God design the earth with a huge furnace in the middle? Remember AlGore? “Da Earf is incwedibwly hot, several muillion degwees…”
I think it questionable at best to think all this petroleum came from lizard carcasses. The planet is a mass of disjuncture layers of minerals and petroleum is just a mineral.
bkmk
Of course there’s regeneration. The process which produced oil and coal in the past has not stopped.
“Liked JDR”
Why? Did you know him?
or just accepted the ‘stories’ about him ....
I was thinking about DuBeers and Rhoades and how the diamond market is managed to create a scarcity
Something similar with oil?
