Even If The Jury Doesn’t Convict Michael Sussmann, The Special Counsel Has Won
The Federalist ^ | MAY 31, 2022 | MARGOT CLEVELAND

Posted on 05/31/2022 5:55:23 AM PDT by E. Pluribus Unum

The jury in the Michael Sussmann criminal case resumes deliberations today after the long Memorial Day weekend. While prosecutors presented overwhelming evidence over the last two weeks that Sussmann lied to then-FBI General Counsel James Baker in 2016, an acquittal by the D.C. jury still seems likely.

Judging the success of Special Counsel John Durham’s probe into the investigation of President Trump and those associated with the Trump campaign and administration should not rest on the outcome of the Sussmann prosecution, however. In fact, even if the special counsel’s office scores a conviction in its false statement case against Sussmann, that would do little to right the scales of justice unbalanced by more than five years of the politically motivated abuse of power that began as Crossfire Hurricane and continued even after Special Counsel Robert Mueller issued his final report.

So, measuring Durham’s performance by the outcome in United States v. Sussmann would be a mistake. Also, especially in the case of an acquittal, it would ignore the valuable information exposed related to the broader Spygate scandal. Using that gauge as a measure, the special counsel’s office succeeded wildly.

Durham Proved the Collusion Hoax Was a Hillary Clinton Enterprise

On September 19, 2016, Sussmann provided Baker data and whitepapers purporting to show a secret communications network between the Russia-based Alfa Bank and Donald Trump. In indicting Sussmann for allegedly lying to Baker during this meeting, the special counsel’s office revealed in its 27-page speaking indictment “a scandal much deeper than merely Sussmann’s role in a second Russian hoax — a scandal that entangles the Clinton campaign, multiple internet companies, two federally-funded university researchers, and a complicit media.”

Until the wikipedia mafia and the media reporting is corrected to reflect what is known to be fact and it sticks it isnt true for half of americans.

There are good number of people who belive Alpha Bank Trump Org communication channel is true. Neither side in this case agree with that. That will be presented as truth for the next decade.

I doubt he will be convicted and even if so, it won’t be a win, considering how long this has taken. A slap on the wrist probation?

There's not a snowball's chance in hell that a DC jury will convict *any* of the conspirators who might be brought to trial. DC consistently goes 90%-95% for the Rat Party nominee.That's far higher than you'll see even in Berkley,California...Cambridge,Massachusetts...or the Upper East Side of Manhattan.

Not buying it. If Durham can’t get a conviction, even one as easy as this, then his investigation will have been a failure and the left will have the ammo to say: nothing was proved. HRC: Guilty as hell and free as a bird.

~~~
Sussmann was doing his patriotic duty as an American to expose a russian spy running for president! His connections to the clinton campaign were purely coincidental. This witchhunt must stop! /s
-- This bastard getting off without prison time is not a win. --
All depends on perspective. If you think the legal system is honest, you are naive. If you think the legal system will keep the government honest, you are naive. The government OWNS the legal system, and the legal system serves the government. If the government want to perpetrate lies and otherwise abuse the public, it may do so without any fear of legal repurcussions.
The sooner the public wises up to these facts of reality, the better.
Expecting the government to correct itself? ROTFL. Not going to happen.
Nixon, didn’t concoct or approve the Watergate break-in, but in the end he tried to cover it up, instead of exposing the thing.
Clinton, approved and encouraged the hoax and it’s dissemination. The contrast is so glaring, that you wonder if there’s complicity on both sides.
IOWs, the Russian hoax was so obviously a joke, even noted among us here on this forum, you have to assume that the GOP leaders, McConnell, Ryan, Graham etc must have known it too.
But did they come to Trump’s defense? No, they pushed for a special counsel, and they threatened Trump if he were to fire his AG.
We forget how Trump had to deal with his own party that first two years, as well as Mueller, the media and the democrats.
I still want to see a conviction, because an acquittal let’s the media jump all over this.
IOWs, no coverage of the trial on the MSM, but they’re going to sing about it 24/7 if there’s an acquittal. If convicted, I doubt if anything comes of this.
In summary, let’s hope and pray a conviction leads to bigger fish to be fried right on up to Clinton.
