Sloviansk (Ukraine) (AFP) – The bombing in eastern Ukraine is becoming more intense and, with no water or electricity, 100 people or so heeded the mayor's call on Thursday to evacuate the city of Sloviansk which sits in Russia's crosshairs.
"The situation is getting worse, the explosions are stronger and stronger and the bombs are falling more often," 18-year-old student Goulnara Evgaripova told AFP.
Outside an administrative office, she boarded one of five minibuses earmarked to take people out of the city in the Donetsk region that Moscow wants to control.
One Russian strike killed three people, wounded six and left a trail of damage on Tuesday in Sloviansk, witnesses told AFP.
Mayor Vadim Liakh, spoke of a fresh bombardment on Thursday that damaged electricity lines on the edge of the city which boasted a population of 100,000 before the late February invasion.
"There is no electricity, the water supply is down," Liakh posted on the Telgram messenger service.

hmmmm, I’m betting the population will be closer to zero than 20,000 by the end of the month.
As for buildings... I’ll go the the under on any estimate.
Russia is going to pound those poor people and buildings into piles of rocks and bodies. Then he’s going to make them bounce around for a couple of days, then the infantry will go in and kill anyone left or hold them hostage back in Russia.

Not to the Ukraine Army - they’re trying unsuccessfully to prevent Russia from building it’s landbridge by taking over those areas....but Ukraine army isn’t going to stop this.
I think th entire area will indeed end up Russian and they will determine later what areas to rebuild but it will be Russian citizens no doubt.
Yes. After the 2014 coup, it was one of the first cities to opt out and they were immediately attacked by the Uke militias sent out from Kiev.
It was called Slavyansk until the Uke ethnic cleansing and language laws hit. It was one of the first battles in 2014 when the Uke army attacked.

Looks like Russia is getting its land bridge.
Putin will hold on, despite cancer and assassination attempts, to achieve this goal.
At the rate Russia is winning, and demolishing these cities, it will probably be all over in three months.
The US should keep its weapons. We are going to need them here.
And once again Ukraine's government gets the World leaders to rebuild and refinance their favorite money laundering machine. Unfortunately Ukraine's military and people paid the ultimate price - Again.
