They are not being prohibited from speaking.

Sure they are. They are speaking up and the governor is retaliating for their doing so by vetoing money appropriated by the legislature. Clear violation of their 1st Amendment rights.

The governor is simply taking a stand and sending a message to the Rays and other organizations that if they choose to enter the political culture war as advocates and active participants of one side they are free to do so but it has to be on their own dime.

They cannot expect taxpayers to support their advocacy financially, especially the taxpayers who disagree with them and against whom they are taking an active position.

Looking at a different aspect of this issue, organizations like NASCAR, Netflix, Disney and professional sports are businesses selling entertainment. How smart is it for any business to engage in political
activities in ways that alienate a large number of their potential customers?

Remember what happened to the Dixie Chicks when they did so at the height of their popularity?

Nah you’re wrong. DeSantis was fully within his legal and ethical rights and this veto will be upheld in court.
