A shooting in Iowa left two people and a suspected gunman dead outside a church in Ames, Iowa Thursday evening, the Story County Sheriff’s Department confirmed.
The shooting happened just before 7 p.m. local time when a man opened fire on two female victims in front of Cornerstone Church on US-30, Capt. Nicholas A. Lennie told Fox News Digital.
The church was holding an event for college-age kids when the shooting occurred, the station reported.
The church said in a statement the victims were "two young members of our Cornerstone Church community."

It was a domestic situation, not random.
Sheriff Paul Fitzgerald identified the two women killed in the shooting as 22-year-old Eden Moriah Montang and 21-year-old Vivian Renee Flores. Fitzgerald identified the shooter as 33-year-old Johnathan Lee Whitlatch.
Fitzgerald said the shooting was a domestic incident as Whitlatch and Montang were previously in a relationship. He said Montang had recently broken up with Whitlatch. On May 31, Whitlatch was charged with harassment and posing as a public official by Ames police in a domestic incident. He was scheduled to appear in court on those charges on June 10. Fitzgerald said Montang had a restraining order in place against Whitlatch.

The problem is you are trying to come up with a rational explanation for irrational behavior.
Evil exists. We don’t need to understand it. We just need to fight it.
I appreciate your enthusiasm and encourage righteous activism.
But in this instance yer about 30 years late to the party and preaching to the choir.
"We" know this. The question is what to do besides what we're already doing. Or should be doing if we've been paying any attention at all over said 30 years.

Well, these killings in our big cities, are mostly members of minority groups killing other minority group members. Much of it is gang related.
Black lives don’t matter when black killers kill other black people.
And the media barely report on all these shootings in our cities. Sadly it’s just a normal weekend in Chicago, when a dozen or more people get shot, and 3 or 4 of victims die.
Perp was out on bond and had a restraining or against him from the victim. Legal system worked really well to protect her, right!? Granting both was it legal for him to have guns. Did, and should, the court have addressed whether he had guns and whether he should temporarily surrender the guns before they let him out?
Only two shot? If the media isn’t careful they might HAVE to start reporting the carnage in Chicago.
