A former top adviser to the House committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, riot said Sunday there was no “smoking gun” indicating former President Donald Trump planned for the U.S. Capitol to be overrun by his supporters.
Denver Riggleman, who until recently was a senior adviser to the committee, told CNN’s “State of the Union” that there was no direct evidence indicating the riot was a premeditated attack.
“That probably [was] going to be very difficult to even find based on the limited authorities of Congress as far as getting data and things like that,” said Mr. Riggleman, a one-term Republican congressman from Virginia who lost renomination to a more conservative challenger in 2020.
However, he said that when the totality of evidence is presented by the committee Thursday, it will paint a troubling picture of Mr. Trump’s efforts to overturn the election. “I think when you look at the totality of the evidence — and some of these are my personal opinions — it is pretty apparent that at some points, President Trump knew what was going on,” Mr. Riggleman said.
“If you look at what’s happening and the message that’s being pushed by President Trump himself on social media … you start to see this pipeline of information that’s very damaging.”
The comments come as the Democrat-led House panel investigating the Jan. 6 riot is set to hold its a hearing Thursday. Unlike most congressional hearings, this one will be held in the evening in a prime-time news slot.

Trump planned a “Stop the Steal” rally. It was infiltrated by ANTIFA/Occupy types disguised as Trump supporters. They started the violence, commencing before Trump had finished speaking and exhorting his listeners to “peacefully and patriotically” make their voices heard. A few Trump people did get angry enough to join in and should be held accountable. But most of those currently held as political prisoners were simply present at the Capitol and did no harm.

That’s because Trump was busy blowing the smoke out of the Russia Smoking Gun. He didn’t have time to fire the Insurrection Gun and blow that smoke away, too. Duh.
If you look at the election fraud evidence you will understand why he wanted it over looked. As far as insurrection there is no smoking gun and he put out a video asking people to stop and go home. But social media took it down immediately not allowing people to see his request because they wanted it to happen. It was supposed to happen because that’s the way the dems planned it. They have once again people making up lies to attempt to damage Trump. They impeached him for something they didn’t investigate. People see through this but don’t matter when the judicial system is paid for like media and social media. If republicans take back the house and senate I do wonder if they will do actual real investigations. If they do the evidence is there to convict many politicians. But will they or if they lose the house and senate will they take there money and retire. I am assuming pelosi will be gone as fast as she can.
This is all going to backfire on the Democrats come in early November,2022.
If they had anything, we would have heard about it. All we are hearing is innuendo and suggestive leaks. And liz chaney is a tool being used to imply credibility to the suggestive but not substantial leaks.
Did Trump even plan the rally on January 6? If I recall correctly it was planned by a group called “Women for Trump” or something like that. Trump was invited to speak. If Trump had planned the rally, it would have been better organized.
Except the dreaded Midterm Variant is about to arrive and all voting will be by midnight express dropbox.
