A number of Tampa Bay Rays players decided not to wear rainbow-colored logos on their uniforms as part of the team's annual 'Pride Night' on Saturday.
In the buildup to Saturday's MLB game against the Chicago White Sox, which also marked the franchise's annual 16th Pride Night celebration, the Rays added rainbow-colored logos to their uniforms, caps and on the right sleeve of their shirts.
'Our Pride Nights continue to grow both in terms of visibility and participation,' Rays president Matt Silverman told the Tampa Bay Times. 'By doing this, we extend an invitation not just for this game but for all of our games that the LGBTQ+ community is invited, welcomed and celebrated.'
Members of the LGBTQ community also took part in pregame activities organized by the MLB franchise. Mini LGBTQ flags were additionally given out to fans, while the field's mount and the stadium's roof both displayed pride colors.
On Sunday, however, Tampa Bay Rays manager Kevin Cash addressed some of his players' refusal to wear the Pride-themed uniforms, saying he doesn't think it will negatively impact the clubhouse because discussions among the players over past few weeks were constructive and emphasized the value of differing perspectives.
'First and foremost, I think the organization has done a really good thing to have Pride Night's supporting our gay community to come out and have a nice night at the ballpark,' Cash said. 'Impressed that our players have had those conversions and we want to support our players that choose to wear or choose not to wear to the best of our capabilities.'
Reliever Jason Adam was among those who opted out, and said 'a lot of it comes down to faith, to like a faith-based decision.'

It shouldn’t be a ‘faith based’ decision-copout. It should be a standing up to the BS call.
Fine the racist homophobes $10,000.00 a day until they apologize and take the knee./S
Good for them! Enter thru the narrow gate gentlemen!
Heck, common sense is enough, do not need faith.
And surely we can take it for granted that there are plenty of leg-irons on hand for the those who wish to complain.
Yep.
Seriously, this is a good example of why they want a Social Credit Score system in place.
They should kneel patch or not. It’s getting stupid. The flag doesn’t stand for much these days. Why should the players?
It's not a sport, it's irritainment, funded largely in part by unwilling taxpayers.
Common sense says you need faith. Fear of God is the beginning of wisdom. Pride comes before the fall. Pride is one of the worst sins there is. The pride parade is the Gays way of mocking God. Every knee shall bow and confress the Jesus Christ is Lord.
“irritainment”
Excellent descriptive word of what pro sports are becoming. More conservative folks are drifting away than they realize. Hope they wake up too late.
Most of the Hispanic players grew up dirt poor and are indifferent to what these rich, decadent, woke owners want them to wear as long as they continue to pay the big bucks. It took courage for those five guys to stand up for their beliefs and principles.
In the days of the Soviet Union, the Russians were always saying that the West was “decadent.” They were right!
You have what you want.
Do not push it on me without me asking.
These people..in all areas.. have trampled on God.. we have a world because God made it
He gave us directions.
The people who live on God’s earth.. some are taking over and not following directions..
One day God is gonna say I told you and you would not listen...
The next time that Tampa Bay plays the Chicago White Sox, make them wear baseball shirts with the faces of young children killed by feral animals in Chicago.
Pay back can be a cutting and truthful BITCH!

A. I’m astounded that AP didn’t talk negatively about those who chose to not wear the f*g flag.
B. AP did mention DeSantis law not allowing school sex talk to third graders and younger. AP didn’t call it the Don’t Say Gay law, but they said the intent is to erase homosexuality.
Are all the brass there gay?
