Sherman and Grant decided to win. That was viewed as cheating.

One has to love the slant to history. Union historians completely covered up the little incident in West Tennessee where Union cavalry skinned Confederate prisoners alive at each mile marker for 20 miles.

They shouldn’t. I didn’t realize that Navy Bases are always named geographically. However, Army and Air Force bases are named after people. My point was that there are plenty of deserving people to name them after. Why name them after abstract concepts (”Fort Liberty”?) or for someone whose most notable contribution is to “diversity” [sic]?

And the prison camp the led to starvation of Union prisoners.

Or, if you want to see something really horrible, the games the US Volunteers and the Apache’s were playing with each other after the Civil War.

agree. USA USAF Bases should be named for members of that branch of the service that are deserving of the honor.
